If I told you that we had to wait nearly an hour for our lunch, you'd be amazed at my rating. However, I forgive them. It was bank holiday weekend and there was a beer festival and the place was packed. The beer I chose was excellent and we enjoyed listening to the local bluegrass band while waiting for our meal. I enjoyed my fish and chips when it arrived. I will definitely return.

We came along today for the first time and weren’t sure what to expect. Quirky is an understatement! We were greeted by a lovely young gentleman and service was great and friendly throughout. As lager drinkers
Ina real ale pub we were recommended the local brew - Tonbridge Kolsch and found it a great middle ground between lager and ale. We had 2 burgers and 2 fish and chips which were excellent and the ribs from the smokery were to die for. Will be back soon! Great to find these hidden gems.

Eight gravity fed real ales behind the bar, including Old Dairy Gold Top, Skinners Betty Stoggs, Tonbridge Copper Knob, Halfway to Paradise and Goachers Fine Light. No TV or juke box, log fire blazing in the winter, cobwebs and beams, friendly local crowd from farmers, bee keeper to lawyers and City bankers, chirping away over a few beers. What more could you want from a proper country pub?

The halfway House is between Brenchley and Horsmonden, as its name suggests. This pub serves excellently kept real ales, straight from the barrel, usually 6 - 8 on, mostly from Kent & Sussex but some from further afield. The food is very good and reasonably priced for this part of the country. There is a very large "adult" garden and a childrens garden. Beer festivals are held twice a year and involve local music. Accessible by bus from Tunbridge Wells, An absolutely superb pub, ale lovers don't miss out.

Great place for a weekend getaway for a beer. The offer includes several regional beer brands from local hops. The interior of the pub is very old and typical, giving it its character, is divided into two rooms. In one of them we can eat something and the other one is typical with a bar for beer lovers. Very nice and helpful service. At the next opportunity, we will definitely visit again.

We always enjoy a meal at this pub. The food is yummy and nicely presented. Some of the seating is uncomfortable and the uneven table tops can make it difficult to steady your plate and glass.

Our trip to halfway house was memorable for all the right reasons. Everyone was very welcoming and clearly happy in their work. The outside gardens are divided so you can enjoy a drink/meal without children. There is also an outside bar, although the comprehensive range of real ales are inside. The food was excellent, beautifully cooked, and well presented, and of course, served with a smile! The pub is quirky and very olde world. Nicky the land lady is very well assisted by her family. We would like to think we will definitely go back when we are in the area again.

Took a chance to visit this pub and what a pleasant surprise. A real quirky pub with lots of Real Ales which the barman was willing to let you taste before deciding which one to have. (They sell Larger as well).
The food was excellent with generous portions reasonable prices and served with a smile
If you visit this pub it's worth asking about it's history as the bar area is ??? I'll leave you to find out yourself. They also have lots of social events as well.
