Kelsey Park is not only renowned for its wild bird life but it is a great family park. There’s lots of flat open spaces, ideal for games such as rounders or football, we even had a game of limbo, which I hasten to add, the kids thrashed the adults at. There are lots of pathways ideal for children to cycle in or indeed to roller skate or scooter. There is an enclosed playground with lots of equipment including swings to suit most disabilities as well as the ordinary ones. Next to this is a lovely little cafe selling hot and cold food, nothing gastronomical, rather sandwiches, omelettes, burgers, jacket potatoes, chips and the like. All freshly made to order and reasonably priced. There is also a very nice ice cream van by the lake that has held this spot for a long time and rightly so, very nice ice cream. Also if that’s not enough, there are little corpses of wooded areas ideal for hide and seek and if you have peanuts and are patient enough, squirrels that will feed from your hand. From a pleasant walk around the lake to the delights of the playground and of course the amazing bird life, set it huge, lush green grounds, this park is well worth a proper visit. Only one word of warning. Most of the roads surrounding the park have heavily monitored parking restrictions so get a ticket and make sure it doesn’t run out.

This is such a peaceful park to walk around. It suits all age groups and I’ve been coming here since I was a little girl. Families enjoy feeding the swans and ducks and it’s a great place for walking the dog. There is also a children’s playground with a variety of equipment. The coffee shop has very friendly staff. They also sell ice-cream and basic food. There are lots of benches situated all over the park to sit and have a chat or a rest. The squirrels are exceptionally friendly and rather fun to watch. You can’t go wrong here!

Another afternoon, another park to visit, and today was Kelsey Park in Beckenham.

Park your car either on the main road or one of the side streets, and enter the park by one of the seven entrances, see the map below.

I walked in one of the entrances, see below, with the name of the park overhead very welcoming, as I went at kids summer holidays there is a playground which is next to the cafe which was very very very overcrowded, so my advice, leave that unless you really need it.

I decided to take one of the paths, that leads you up past the lake, which is submerged in the centre of the park, whatever path you take, the views are stunning all the way around.

You finally end up at the park keepers lodge which by my picture is well managed, as you make your way back to the cafe, you pass loads of benches to sit and rest, there are bridges to cross and look at the river, a memorial flower garden, a tourist information centre but it only opens at weekends and bank holidays just to let you know, then finally you pass the tennis courts and crazy golf before you pass the cafe again before exiting back to the car.

So in summary, Kelsey Park is a wonderful park,if you fancy an alternative from Beckenham Place Park so come on

Come and (KEL see for yourself )

Disappointed, park left to rack and ruin
All the bridges blocked off as ‘dangerous’ but no sign of any repairs being carried out.
Crows picking off the baby ducks and geese as they hatch. The only positive side is the amount of herons nesting .
Used to be the best park , now one of the worst.
Even the cafe , with its large menu, is disappointing with the owner being condescending and rude to customers.
Personally didn’t see any other rats!

What started as a Lovely family stroll in the park watching wildlife and flowers, tuned into an afternoon of terror. As we walked along the paths around the lake, we saw at least 6 large rats. What surprised us most was that there were a lot of other people there, feeding ducks and picknicking while rats were roaming around, crossing footpaths. I am truly ashamed to say that I live in Beckenham and pay council tax to Bromley Council. How can I invite friends or family to meet in Kelsey Park?

Disappointed they didnt have veuve cliquot champagne in stock, yet it was on the drink menu - had to settle for a reluctant prosecco in the end.

Staff as usual exceptional with the service, we will return regardless, as we have been coming here for over 15 years, in which time the venue has almost half of that amount in name changes. Bring back the ledgendary Box Bar from 2006 - 2009.

Peace and quiet and a bit of bird watching in the middle of Beckenham. Loads of benches, waste bins, picnic areas, and little walks away from the crowd. There is a viewing platform where all the nanny's gather to escape from those very exppensive apartments over looking the park. There is also a cafe, not sure about the season opening times, but when open sell hot drinks and chips. Buy your sandwiches from the local cafes, inc M and S, Lidl and Sainsburys. Bird watchers bring your bins, but beware the geese and ducks, they will be after your scraps, if they appear near, I just fend them off by keeping my feet pointing in their direction. If you are taking a toddler, remember the reigns.

Hands down the best park . Family friendly and lovely cafe. Grounds are perfect to scoot in and lots of lovely geese and ducks to look at . Well maintained trees and good mix of wilderness and pristine gardens

Cafe run by a very friendly bunch who never fail to deliver.

Will miss this park when we move

This is an amazing place for all ages. Quite a small park but it has lakes, stream, playground, putting, cafe etc etc. Amazing amount of wildlife, another reviewer mentioned rats and yes you will see them but these are rats in the correct place, living by the side of water peacefully and not running around in sewers. Just seeing the Herons on Heron Island is worth the trip, I have never seen so many in one place. There are plenty of other birds, perhaps too many Canada Geese but this is a nationwide issue. Recently the park has got more of a wild look, but personally I prefer this to a Manicured "do not touch" sort of look. My wife and I go at least 4 times a week and there is something of interest every time.

An absolutely fantastic park. Plenty of things to see, animals, birds, various trees, unique flowers, an ice cream serving cafe and a beautiful place all in all.
Returning with pleasure.
