Nice steep walk, great views, good food
Oct 2019
This was our 3rd hike of the day and it was 5:30 pm when we arrived at the parking lot. It was a steep 1.4 km to the top but the sign said the restaurant was open till 8 on Saturdays. We wanted to get their before the sunset and have something to eat. It didn't really seem like a castle but there were great views. We were starving and the deer goulash was tasty and plentiful. But, then we had to walk down in the dark, which was also kind of fun. The place was getting busier as we left and we wondered how they all got there. There were about 5 cars parked as we left so maybe if you have reservations you can get special permission to drive up. This place is 30 km from Esslingen A Neckar and should not be confused with the Esslinger Burg.

Lovely woodland walk to panoramic views from a quaint little tower
Apr 2019 • Couples
Visited in slightly misty conditions so views, normally excellent were not the best. Lovely walk up a track through beautiful woods to get to the tower and bar/restaurant. Went to visit the tower rather than restaurant, so cannot speak for that. It was locked, but someone from the restaurant kindly opened it and for an honesty box euro you can climb a quaint little tower to look out at the views.

All OkK but not much here. Would rather recommend Hohenneuffen Castle less than 10 miles away for equally good or better views but a far more interesting setting with ancient buildings and a cafe.

TAKE TIME FOR THE TECK!
Nov 2018 • Friends
My esteemed spouse, our friends who live here, and I put on our hiking boots yesterday and headed up the hill for a lovely morning of hiking. We drove about two thirds of the way up where there is a large parking lot, then continued on foot up, up, up. It's not a difficult climb, you just walk up a road, but it is a continuous uphill trek. Once you reach the top, the views are magnificent! There is a restaurant up there, but it's closed on Mondays and Tuesday in November, at least. Bring water..No water up there. On a cool and cloudy November..a perfect hike!

Beautiful walk, Restaurant with Bad Quality Food
May 2018 • Couples
The walk to the castle is nice and as a hiker you can reach the same speed as mountainbikers. So to say a steep climb. The vistas are really beautiful. At a certain moment the gliders came over very low! One warning: don't eat in the Restaurant Burg Teck. Bad quality food. Not fresh and the Wiener Schnitzel tasted like a Kip Nugget. When told to the owner; no reaction or excuse was made. It was to difficult he says to make a homemade schnitzel. So enjoy the walk and the views but take something to east with you

Nice autumn (fall) hike
Nov 2017 • Couples
We took a hike up the hill in the fall. There were a lot of other people hiking around, so it's pleasant to see other groups in the forest. It is a pretty steep hike (at least from where we started), but we're seasoned hikers so we weren't too exhausted. We usually bring our own lunch to eat on the castle grounds. There isn't much of a castle to see, but the ruins are interesting to look at. The view and the landscape is nice too.

If going in the fall, just be careful about the wet ground, especially when going down, it might get slippery!

A nice walk with a worth seeing destination for the whole familie
Oct 2016 • Friends
You can drive with your car to a parking place about two Km under the Burg Teck and here you will have a beautiful view over a nice landscape. Hobbypilots will start their modell- Sailing-aeroplanes from this place.

Than you will start a walk up hill to the Burg Teck. There you will find a rustic restaurant and also a snack-bar for a drink and some food. You will walk around the old wall and have a wunderfull view around. It is a must for all vititors of Kirchheim Teck.

Good views
Jun 2017 • Couples
Parked the car as far up the hill as we could ....at Hornle. From there,it's quite a steep 30 minutes walk up through the wood to the castle. Not a great deal there, but certainly marvellous views of the surrounding countryside. Also there is a cafe/toilets etc. An easy 20 minutes back down to the car.

To see a castle? No. For a good workout? Yes
Mar 2017 • Couples
I was really expecting more from Berg Teck. It is a long and fairly strenuous hike from the parking lot. At the summit, you will find the ruins of the castle with bathrooms and food. You can pay 0.50 Euro to go up into the turret. The view is nice, but if you are going to see a castle, this is not the one to pick. There are many other castles to choose from. If you like ruins however, the view is good and you will get your cardio for the day. The paths are not well marked and are all at a steep grade.

Easily Overlooked
Aug 2016
This had been a central part of the long history of the city. A city originally important to the Romans who had settled here because of the river, had had several transformations over the years. It was a delight to be able to see how ownderfully it has been maintained and valued by the citizens.
