Since it was the holiday season, we had already booked our tour in advance on the Internet. This was quick and easy. On arrival we were greeted friendly and the payment went quickly through the stage. The handling of the bike was briefly explained to us just in time for the start. The way out goes steadily slightly uphill and you still get a little sweaty. During the tour you have a beautiful view of the High Fens. In Sourbrodt there is a short break where wheels are turned and energy is refuelled for the way back over a snack and drink. For the most part, the way back is only downhill and so on the way back, children and not-so-fit people can use the pedal crank.

Something great to do with the kids: you bike on a sort of go-cart on rails while you take in the scenery and the sun. For about 45 minutes one way it's slightly uphill, so you need two adults who are more or less in good shape. Then there's a short break to rest, drink or snack while the bikes are being turned, and after a while you cycle back. The return is all the way downhill again, so suitable for kids. While two people bike, the two others can sit back and enjoy. Not expensive at all, but recommended to take a bike by 4 rather than 2 for resting purposes. Probably also more enjoyable in nice weather.

It is a great and fun experience. While being on the railbike, you enjoy the great views of the beautifull nature.
Whilst going from the start to the restingpoint, it goes slightly uphill. Which is ofcourse an advantage if you go back to the startingpoint :-). First part: approx 45 min.; Second part: approx 30min.
Try to avoind "slow" groups in front of you, or you could be stuck in a trafficjam of railbikes.

The Molignée rail bikes are much more pleasant and a lot cheaper. Here you arrive at a wooden chalet in a deserted place. The railway is NOT well maintained: overhanging branches that poke out your eyes, scratches on your legs and face... for 40 euros you expect a better maintained railway.
The concept itself is cool, but don't underestimate that it is quite tough pedaling.

This railbike track is one of two of its kind we visited in the Ardennnes (the other one is Draisines de la Molignée between Falaën and the Abbey of Maredsous). While the Railbike des Hautes Fagnes is a fun activity, the view of the area is quite monotonous and not any different from the views you get while walking, cycling or driving. The way up it very challenging, and is followed by a 15 min pause, but the way down easy. This activity is absolutely no competition for its competitor which is more diversified in views, richer in history and offers world renowned delicacies at the pause.

We did this with a group of six people, enjoyed the ride a lot! Great way of seeing some of the Natural Park while being active at the same time. Two people get to "bike", one or two can have a seat and relax while taking in the great views.
Ideal to do with kids, as you can stop anytime you'd like to switch places. Even possible with smaller kids as they have these little detachable seats for them.

Sports activity because the draisines are heavy and from the Check-out station to the finish; there is 7km of climb. The descent is also pretty and easier.
Two people pedal, two more or up to 3 young children or 2 adults can take palace in the back.
Beautiful wooded landscapes and views of the fagne.
At the top bar, possibility to buy a refreshment.
During the holidays, it is better to book by email.
Award of €40 per draisine.
Count about 1 hour on the way and 40 minutes on the return.

Fun activity to do with children.
The ride to Sourbrodt is quite tough and then the adults can cycle.
The return ride is ideal for the children to pedal.
Super friendly welcome (in 3 languages).

si je suis seul avec ma fille de 6 ans c'est possible tout de même ?
et quelle est la durée de l'activité ?

Si vous êtes sportif oui. Mais votre fille de 6 ans n’est pas encore assez grande pour atteindre les pédales.
