    Ideal watering hole
We two friends were in Newark for the Civil War Ale Trail, and the Flying Circus was our first hostelry to visit. It was also the best. Staff have taken all the necessary precautions in these pandemic times, so we felt safe to enjoy our pint in the relaxed and hospitable surroundings. There is a wide range of beers, from English to international, and the jar of Reverend James did not disappoint, and showed that the ales are well maintained and presented. On top of that, the music selection was first class, Blues especially. Watch out as you may well be tempted do buy albums online while you sit and enjoy your pint. We were sad to leave, but the Civil War sights beckoned. As an aside, the Ale Trail is well worth a day or two out, and make sure that you visit the Flying Circus!

    Genuine music venue
It’s had several guises over the years but it’s back to what it does best - live music! Some genuine legends have played this venue, local heroes such as The Jonnyguns as well as greats such as Otis Redding and Cliff Richard. Real ales and real atmosphere. Enjoy!

    What's not to like?!
Fabulous real ale & craft ale selection. Our Bitter Pints were served at precisely the correct temperature, excellent quality & condition. Plus live music! What's not to like, well worth a visit

Rip off price of soft drinks. Rude staff. Rubbish music much better pubs round corner. When commented on price of a coke landlord basically told us to get lost.

Have been going in the flying circus for a couple of years mostly on a Saturday lunch time with friends or with my good lady . This particular Saturday I was met by the landlord as I entered the pub he said “ you cannot eat in here.”I was carrying a small box that resembled the appearance of a small pizza box . I replied “I wasn’t planning on eating anything”. His rely was the smell would ruin the ambiance of pub . He had no idea of the contents of the plane box only presumed that it carried a cooked pizza . Wrong in every aspect. Never embarrass your customers in front of others .

An older pub brought to life by experienced Newark publicans with a modernising revamp. Fairly fixed range of real ales. Still developing with food added and live music too.

We've played here a few times now and have always had a great night. Quirky decor and a fantastic selection of beers - just a shame I'm often driving! The owners are big music fans and it's great to see them supporting live music.
