Interesting but empty
Sep 2019 • Couples
Interesting building to see and look round but not much inside. Shame it isn't been used to it's full potential because it would be a lovely if all the shops were occupied.

Day out
Nov 2019 • Friends
I have only given the shopping centre 3 stars as it was mostly empty shops which was a shame as it had been nicely refurbished....but as for Newark itself I would give it 5 stars had never been before and the town itself and the buildings especially the church are amazing will definitely be back especially in the summer months as I want to explore the castle and the numerous gardens which I'm sure will be lovely....

What on earth is going on?
Dec 2019 • Solo
What is going on at the Buttermarket? All the retail units were empty when they should have had occupants for Christmas trade. Such a shame.

Food!
Mar 2019 • Family
Went to look at the re-vamped and revived Buttermarket. A lovely vibrant feel. Cakes, pizza and soup to choose from and a good selection of art and craft stalls. Will be visiting again soon as it feels like a brilliant work in progress.

Lease of life...

Newark buttermarket not only a beautiful building, but being put to use by some very passionate & clever people, bit of something for everyone, beautiful gifts, great crafters.... Just adds to the Newark experience

What a revival
Mar 2019 • Friends
The buttermarket has been transformed. It's full of crafter's, clothes shops and yummy treats.
There's photographers and they have a couple of local artists on a rotation I believe.
Went there yesterday and thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere and music.
What a difference!!

Revamped and wonderful
Mar 2019 • Solo
The Buttermarket has been closed for a long time but recently received a renovation, on keeping with the stunning original design. A beautiful building, but now with the addition of wonderful shops, stalls, crafts, food and live music. Worth a trip to Newark for this alone, but once done I recommend some of the old local pubs or a trip to the castle.

The revival of Newark's Buttermarket
Mar 2019 • Friends
Almost empty for the last 2 years, the 18th century gorgeous building now known as The Buttermarket has been bought by the local Council and filled with local business folk and has just re-opened. Loads of small craft, jewellery, eco cosmetics and household furnishings and clothes (for kids and women) plus cakes and brownies, soup wagon, vegan food and photographers, an aquarium shop, a fabric shop and a quiet corner. It's an unbelievably lively and vibrant place again. Busiest on Thur/Fri/Sat. I think its closed Sunday and Monday. They've got buskers on Saturdays too.
Really cool place now..

Reopened March 19

Lots of independent traders, newly opened again so still a couple of units free but worth a visit to meet and purchase from local artists and creatives.

Stunning interior
Sep 2018 • Couples
The Buttermarket shopping centre is certainly a beautiful building, dating back to 1774, a real joy to walk through and admire. Such a pity it's almost empty, you can just about count the number of open outlets on one hand. The upstairs section is sadly closed off, it surely can't be long before the downstairs area follows suit. Visually wonderful, such a waste.
