Excellent little museum tucked away on a side street in a beautiful house. Find out a little about the history of the area you are staying and the culture of the people. The guide was very knowledgeable and she told us some interesting stories and facts. There is a nominal entry fee. We had a lovely hour or so here.

Each room in the museum has a different theme and has exhibits which come from the lives of the ordinary people of Sitia. For example, there is a room showing some of the craft work done by women such as sewing, weaving, and spinning. There are kitchen implements. There is a school room. There are complete sets of tools for various trades. There are rooms set out as for a town house and for a country house. I found this museum totally absorbing and I learned a lot about how people lived about a hundred years ago, or more.

A tiny but fascinating little place tucked away up a side street but well worth searching out. A friendly and informative welcome from people keen to secure funding and interest to keep this place alive and going.

A smallish museum on two floors but packed with information which is supplemented by the excellent guide, who speaks very good English and is also knowledgable about weaving and old crafts. Well laid out and varied, including home life, schooling, crafts, agriculture and how city living differed from country living. Well worth a visit.

We spent a couple of hours wandering round and then had to go back on our next visit to see the things we’d missed.
The curator was excellent, helpful without being intrusive and very knowledgable, highly recommend.

Dropped in and really glad we did so. Nice to see one of the traditional houses in Sitea being so well preserved. Variety of exhibits of Rural and Town life. Some very interesting old photgraphs ( I loved the first postman getting to Sitea - on his donkey !) What really made the visit special was the attention from the lady working there, she came round with us, highlighting several things and we had a lovely discussion about changes in Sitea over the years.

This small museum is up a side road not far from the harbour and is housed in a late 19th century building. It's contents are similar to the other Folk Museums in Crete but what made this special to us was a guided tour by the curator. Definitely worth an hour's time of anybody who has an interest in the country's heritage.

Another museum that is light and airy, as well as being easy to understand the culture of the area, and there is a lot of history to take in., Once of the more modern buildings worth finding oiut and allow a good hour to simply wander around
