The park was nice with quality entertainment. Unfortunately the accomodations (Guldby stuga) were not up to standard and certainly not worth 1400:- per night. Among other things, the shower was dirty, the mattresses were very old and dirty and there was no coffee maker or microwave. The food at the campsite and in the park was also over priced and of overall poor quality. The worst part, though, was the terribly poor service at the food establishments, which resulted in very long lines and up to an hour's wait for a quick meal. Not ideal when your visiting the park with kids, which pretty much everyone is! If we ever return, we will be sure to book a nearby hotel (not at High Chaparral) and bring our own meals.

Despite this place being in the middle of nowhere you’re met upon arrival with a paid Q-park area, 60kr for the day. I knew then what was to come.
345kr entry per person both kids and adults and due to corona restrictions everything isn’t running as it should be. The kids had a great time though but I felt like this place is all about taking as much money as possible from you.

High Chaparral is a nicely decorated western town but without many activities considering the somewhat lofty price of 320SEK per person (except very small children below 1,00 meter)
Included in the price you can do a pony ride and a trip with the diligence - which is of course just a simple horse carriage.
You want to try the train? 50SEK per person
You want to wash gold? 30SEK per person
Shooting range? 30SEK per person
What is included in the price are some shows. We only managed to be at the right spot at the right time to see one. This we quickly left as it was in Swedish which my children do not understand.
If you didn't bring a cowboy hat and revolver for your kids? This can of course be obtained for just below 100SEK per piece - as in almost 200SEK for a plastic hat and toy gun.
The food was alright but far from impressive. Would therefore have preferred to just bring a lunch pack.
All in all we had a fine day and my kids had a good time but I do believe we could have found more fun elsewhere.

I’ve been to some of the best theme parks in the world and I think high Chaparral is a very well made theme park even by American standards. The sets and actors are superb and the shows great fun for the whole family except the grumps! Lots of things to do like train ride and riverboat ride, and the kids didn’t seem to miss more adventurous rides at all. Was really surprised to find such a cool place all the way out in Swedish woods! The grey cabin we stayed in in vagnsborgen, was very basic with self catering, but had wc, shower and small kitchenette and def good enough for a night and kids loved the rustic feel and the bunk beds, minus that we had to pay extra for beddings and towels!
Had friends staying in the hotel and hotel had a cleaner, more contemporary feel, but pretty much the same standard.
All in all a fun exciting visit for the whole family!

We arrived the place, which is well marked along the road to the park. Arriving there already begin to see cowboys, ladies and kids dressed up in the wild west style, with nice dresses and with their boots strapped on.
Kind of pricy entry of 340 kronor per person, but when inside the gates, you are suddenly in a wild west city, or should i say several ones.
Walking main street looking at the storefronts, bars, blacksmith working and the stables with horses standing eating their chow of the day. Hearing the whistle from the train in the distance makes you feel you are in a different time. Place for kids to play in a mini town of the wild west, climbing high and low, with some uncertainty of the safety of the kids, but with hopes it goes ok. Given a program of the shows of today gives you an idea of that you are going to be busy today. First off to the general store or gunshop to buy the kid a rifle and a cowboy hat, getting ready for the day at the park.
First off to see the indian show, which was a show of indians showing tribal dances. Good introduction with lots of history and background of the dances, but somewhat dissapointed with the indians, as they were somehwat unengaged and not really showing engagement in what they did.
Next off to the wild west show, a show of good and bad fighting for the power of the city at stage. Good stunts and the kids really got involved in the show as they were asked to help fighting the bad guys. Good stunts and fighting scenes.
Then off to next show with Lucky Luke and the Dalton Brothers and their mam. A show of laughter and action, slightly disturbed by rain in the middle of the show, but fun.
Enjoying the train with a surprise attack by 5 bandits with lots of shooting and action, some kids afraid, some engaged and taking part in the action trying to defend the train.
Well, the day went faster than you would believe, and looking at Zorro show in the Old Mexico sity was making a good twist of the day before we began our exit. We could tell more, but summary, it was a good day in the wild west, and the kid really enjoyed it and was so happy about the day. RECOMMENDED.

HC offers a range of shows, some are fun, some are not. But between the shows, there isn't that much to do besides food and drink. To fully enjoy this place I think you have to be more inte the Wild West-thing than we are.

Visited with 2 families, and had a blast. The shows are good and the vibrant inviroment really makes you want to play cowboy (with or without your kids)
But make no mistake - you will spend money on cowboy gear, and its everywhere.
Food is like all other amusement parks, low quality, served by teenagers, at a way to high price.

Been here before, both with kids and without. It's like taking a giant step back in time to the old west. This time it was with kids, girls, 5 and 11 years old. Both had a blast. Pony riding, Wood pony riding, boating with an old paddlewheeler, train ride with a steam engine pulled one, getting robbed, seeing Zorro fighting soldiers (well one soldier had sneekers on, that kind of brought me back to reality but the kids didn't care I think), seeing South American dancers, native American performers from Canada with tatanka in an enclosure next to them, gold panning, roof climbing in the kiddy village, watching loads of shows and much much more. You can even go riding on real horses, start in the Mexican village but for those you need riding experience. The kids bought some guns and then used them to rob the shop on the Indian Island and got away with chocolate. Apperantly most kids do 'cause the lady didn't even put up a fight.
This place is real fun. Spent 2 days. The first day was 4th of July so the place was decorated accordingly and the wild west show also ended with a congrats to the USA and riding by with an american flag. The kids were exhausted and slept well both at night and in the car on the road ;-) You should try the waffles with whipped cream and strawberry jam at Kristina's cottage. The emigrants' home.

For big boys and kids I would say. My wife also likes it. But with big boys I mean you see a lot of grown up men dressed out in full cowboy outfit. I did not see any women dredded like that unless they were part of the attractions. You have a lot of places for the kids to play with, a lot of shows for the whole family ans a lot of shops for you to buy some nice souvenir.
Whatever you do, do not miss the Wild West show.
The food we had to wait a while for though, and do not expect a treat.

High Chaparral is a Wild West theme park and post-industrial museum of cultural artifacts and collectibles, located close to Värnamo, Sweden. It stages several stunt shows a day. It also has a steam train that runs through the park. There is both the classic Wild West section, an Indian themed area, a Mexican themed area, and a museum. they have a camping there. a lots of fun!

Hi, I'm considering visiting from the UK, what would be the easiest way to get to the attraction, if arriving into Gothenburg Airport please? We will be using public transport.
Written January 20, 2017
Hi.
Either you go by bus all the way
Start at Landvetter Airport with Swebus 830 towards Stockholm Cityterminalen
Arrive at Jönköping Centralstation and change to bus 136 towards Gnosjö station
Arrive at Hillerstorp station and change to bus 238 towards Kulltorpskolan
Arrive at Kulltorp bensinstation and change to bus 238 towards Hillerstorp station
Arrive at High Chaparral
About 5 hours of travel
Or
Start at Landvetter Airport with Swebus 830 towards Jönköping Centralstation
Arrive at Borås Centralstation and switch to train SJ Regionaltåg 327 towards Kalmar Centralstation
Arrive at Gnosjö station and change to bus 201 towards Värnamo station
Arrive at Hillerstorp station and chnge to bus 238 towards Forsheda station
Arrive at High Chaparal
About 4,5 hours travel
Both alternatives includeas a lot of changes.
So, if you are asking if the easiest way is, then it is by car. For public transport, I think I got i covered above but I have never used public transport towards there myself.

Tar inte hästarna skada av de höga ljuden från explosioner och vapnena som avfyras? Jag var minst sagt chockad när jag gick därifrån... :/
