MONSTER DIVERS is a scuba diving center situated in Gapang Beach - Pulau Weh, in a stunnig enviroment and world class diving, in Monster Divers we provide PADI diving courses and Fun dives around the island. With our 15 meter fiber boat, brand new equipment and very welcoming diveshop we will make of your stay in Pulau Weh one of the best times and diving you have ever had. Come and dive with us!

We went diving on Pulau Weh, and we were fortunate to go with Monster Divers. It was a great choice!
The location is excellent, right in front of the sea at Gapang Beach. The facility is spectacular and very comfortable, with areas to store and dry equipment, a compressor, a space for relaxation and briefings, and more.
The owners are three Catalans, and we had the pleasure of meeting Sergi, who was very friendly, fun, a great instructor, and highly attentive. He cares a lot about his clients and is always ready to assist with whatever is needed.
They do something that, in my opinion, is very important: they train, empower, and give decision-making authority to their staff. We met with Anya, Riezky (who was our guide on some dives), and Bobby. They were all very friendly and highly skilled professionals.
In terms of pricing, it's quite reasonable. I think most of the dive centers on Pulau Weh have similar prices.
For me, it's a top-notch dive center!

After the outstanding reviews on Trip Advisor, we decided to go diving with Monster Divers. The decision was the best !!!!!!
The guys are very competent and the fun factor is also very high. the equipment is good and the location easy to enjoy. we did 6 dives with Monsters and one was better than the other. I have already seen some diving center but the whole package (location, dive spots, fish wealth, small diving groups, the boys themselves, and much more, ..... etc.) you will not find again so fast.
My wife made her first dive at Monsters (discover scuba diving) and she was so hooked that she only talked about diving the following days. Thanks to Niko for that.
I'm sure I'll come back and dive with Monsters! I can recommend Monsters to anyone who would like to explore the underwater world of Pulau Weh. There are great diving spots.
In the time between the dives you can also deliciously dine in the restaurant next to the center.
To keep it short: it was a great time with Monsters and as I said, I'll definitely will come back.

We took the Discover Scuba diving class with Monster Divers and had a great first experience with this water sport. Anita - our instructor - took time to explain the theory in detail and to answer our questions. In the water, she was very patient and helped us both in discovering the first skills required for Scuba diving. We appreciated being in a small class, especially because this was our first diving experience!

We dived as a group of 5 and had a fantastic time at Monster divers - which is a small enclave of Spain in the northern most point of Indonesia. Everyone there welcomed us and we felt part of the family for our short stay. Yuyun was especially friendly and was on hand with anything we wanted.
I had heard that the currents in Pulau Weh are infamous and changeable and whilst I am a relatively experienced diver I have limited current experience so I was not overly confident. However, I felt very safe by the thoroughness of briefings - each dive site was drawn out and we knew exactly where to expect currents and how to seek shelter. This professionalism and attention to detail meant I felt reassured and enjoyed the dive much more.
This aside they also knew how to have fun and every dive was as much fun as the last!
My only one comment would be to have one divemaster for the whole day - generally the dive sites were relatively deep so ideally it would be good to have the same divemaster especially as we were trying to cram in as many dives as possible - this would ensure all our no-decompression times were aligned.
Keep up the good work everyone at Monster Divers - thanks for having us and showing us how special Pulau Weh truly is!

What a fantastic experience to dive with these people! First off, let me get it out of the way and say that everything went according to plan. Everyone was super professional - from answering the phone on whatsapp, to how the dives are scheduled, to making sure that everyone is safe, to owning the right equipment.
But besides what should come natural to all dive shops, the people at Monster Divers have really managed to establish a great shop, create a nice atmosphere before, during, but also after diving. Nice to just hang out, go through the books with them, relax and have a beer at the end of the day.
A big thanks to all, Yuyun, Nando, Borja, Miguel, Marta, but the biggest thanks to Nico, with whom we did our deep dive adventure course. Oh that Thai fishing boat, the frog fish, the dragon nudibranch! I would LOVE to go back and do it again.

We tried to dive with these guys but seemed all a bit difficult and chaotic to organize.
We signed up for a dive at 09.30 in the morning and at 16.00 the same day we were still trying to figure out if we were diving.
No one seem to be able to inform us properly and once we said something, it was our fault for not contacting. Then we explained we tried to call them several times on two different numbers but then they said we were underwater so could not pick up the phone!
All and all, very strange and unprofessional way of dealing with clients.

Hi guys,
I´m Sergi the spanish guy to talk to you on the jetty that day and one of the owners of Monsters.
First of all we want to start with an apologise, a big one... I know how it feels when things go wrong by travelling and its not your fault, i traveled a lot too. I did apologise already several times that day but as well here i do it again. Sorry, what is done is done and can´t be changed, our fault!! We didnt answer the phone, true! The acommodattion was full everywhere, true!
But also i want to try to explain you now after a while and cold why that happen so it may help, or not... anyway we owe you an explanation too and of course for those who will read the review to understand as future possible monsters to understand and still decide to come dive with us.
It was Chinese New Year day, there 1.357 billion of chinese only in china, and many of them where here with many of from other natonalities. First about the accomodattion the island was full, guys the room you slep, that we offered for free since you arrived, its been my room for 2 years and we prepared for you, when many others didnt hae a place, in less than 4 hours we find you a bungalow in Olalla cafe with rubiah island view (really beutiful place btw) for how much i dont remember 200.000rp? Chinese new year price, we brougth you to the place the next morning in a van with many others also for free... then the diving...
We thougth about cancelling the dives that day as i said like others, understandable desition. One of the 5 strongest winds since the rainy season starts, big waves, remember guys that many other diveshop where not even diving ) many people that day couldn´t dive, it wasnt safe from our beach, so the only save wy to dive was in rubiah island, that day 8 people did 3 dives includng nigth dive, plus many others that did single dives, we moved 40 tanks up and down, boats, minivan... then you guys call after you check in as we agreed and yes its true i didnt answer, yes its true i was diving, or carrying tanks or on the phone, trying that everyone can dive and have fun like the rest of the team was doing also, and we did it! The girl on the officce should had answer the phone and true you called her, no excuses for that. But even with the rush and the waiting... we still saw some nice fishes and get some surprises like a swing underwater hahahah everyone else had fun, and dived that day... really... we tried our best! And im really sorry you didn´t enjoy and that all that happened the first day you spent on Pulau Weh and that was with the Monsters... Nobody is perfect and everyone knows this things sometimes happen...
Hopefully you can understand better know and even i see it difficult hopefully you ty again with us next time... we owe you one!

Located at pantai Gabang, 2 km before Igho if you come from Sabang. Despite they are a new business they proven to know the reefs best. Thanks for the splendid time there!

I was taken to Monster Divers by pure chance, having not planned where I wanted to dive before I got to Pulau Weh. The dive shop was inviting, and the people seemed pretty cool, so I decided to give it a shot. This was a GREAT decision on my part :) Very soon, I was to learn that the guys at Monsters' are extremely professional and safety-oriented. They took my past ear injury very seriously, even had me consult a doctor. And once I was cleared for diving, they took perfect care of me! They made me feel extremely safe because they genuinely care about their divers. They also made me feel like a valid diver, despite my ear history, encouraging me to try new things (deeeeeeeep diving!!!!), which I did. I get out of my dives at Monster Divers with so much more confidence and many new skills as a diver. Yay!
Beside impeccable professionalism, the team at Monster Divers also shows an incredible ability for fun! Underwater, it makes for great dives, where you feel that they really actively look for cool things and love to share their passion. Above water, it makes for a beautiful community of beautiful people sharing good vibes. There is always someone with whom to chat over coffee at the dive shop. You can just chill there as you please and there is a sense of community that just gets everyone, instructors as well as guests, to just meet and share. I was there for only 4 days, and yet, I had the immense pleasure of being invited to a movie night, a rainy afternoon Risk game, and an awesome dinner party (I'm not saying it's always like that, I guess I got lucky, but either way, these guys rock). The Monsters seem to genuinely want to connect with their customers and include them in their little family, and that is a precious thing that you don't find everywhere.
So, I truly, deeply, sincerely LOVED my experience at Monster Divers. That place has a soul, it is safe, it is beautiful. I cannot recommend it enough. Please choose them for your next diving adventures, and whist there, hug all of those crazy monsters for me.

My girlfriend and I arrived on Pulau Weh having spoken to Lumba Lumba already about diving 10 dives with them. It ended up that we found a room right next to another dive shop, Monster Divers. The night before our first dive with Lumba Lumba, we walked into Monsters to ask if we could use their Wifi as we saw the signal from our room. They thought about it for a second and said, "Hell, why not?" and from their our love of the Monsters was born.
We then checked out the prices with Monsters and they ended up being 55€ cheaper than Lumba Lumba for 10 dives, so we decided to do one dive with Lumba and switch shops. Definitely one of the best decisions we made on the whole trip.
The main Monsters are the twin brothers Nico and Nando, Sergi, Yuyun, and Serena. The DMT's during our stay were Sebastian and Miguel. Our experience with the Monsters has been nothing short of some sort of long lost family reunion, only we just discovered the family. We immediately became close with everyone at the shop, the Monsters themselves, and the divers around during the two weeks we were there.
They were incredibly accommodating throughout the whole experience, even giving us a free dive after an experience at The Canyon (not to be missed!!) due to insanely strong currents, which are a regular thing at Pulau Weh dive sites. They let me use a pointer stick for free the entire time. They blessed me with La Bomba (the 15 liter tank) with no extra charge for most of the dives so I could work on controlling my air usage better. They politely gave Jess and I pointers when we needed it, with the result being that Jess and I are coming out of these 15 or so dives much better divers than before. They also catered to use as the conditions got better (as we were there around the Full Moon), making sure we go great dives at each of their favorite sites. They made us dinner one night. They warmly welcomed us every morning like we'd been living there for years. I could go on.
Out of quite a few dive shops visited over the years at this point, I can truly say that Monsters is a special experience that I'll never forget, and I'm already somewhat planning on coming back to do my DMT training with them all. They are a loving and amazingly fun group of folks that will do their best to make your Pulau Weh diving experience a memorable one.
If you're diving Pulau Weh - dive with the Monsters!!

Just returned home after visiting the beautiful Pulau Weh of the coast of Banda Aceh in Indonesia. The highlight was meeting the guys and girls at the amazing Monster Divers. New to the scene but providing a credible, safe and fun alternative to the established dive houses. A quick email to Serge and Yuyun had me organised on my advanced open water course with pickup from my resort to dive shop, gear sized up (with brand new kit), coffee and donuts and then onto the diving. Comprehensive site and safety briefing prior to each dive. The diving was unbelievable - mix of pelagics: schooling tuna, barracudas as well as the little things such a nudibranches.
Returning back to the dive shop in between dives, everyone hangs outs listening to music, chess battles, enjoying local food or sleeping. Always a relaxed vibe here!! When the diving is over including at night your lift is ready to go, to get you back home.

Where’s the best place to stay that is convenient to get to Monster Divers centre?

I stayed 10 days directly next to Monster Divers. Cheap but also very simple bungalow directly at the beach. No AC and no sink. For me it was fine :) It was called Paman bungalow. 150.000/night.
