Deep in a national park at the northern tip of Sumatra and Indonesia as a whole, is the country’s self-styled kilometre zero.

It’s a panoramic location with a soviet-like monument and a raised walkway through the trees. Be ready though for the male crested macaques who like to charge you - a local told us, only partially in jest, you need to pay a toll of a banana to pass. We didn’t test this, but gracefully backed away and returned to our scooter.

Well, I enjoy the sunset. The monument itself is pretty big, you can go up to the second and third floor of the monument to have better view. Not much to do exept enjoying the sunset. For me, the location is pretty far from the city.

The monument is a bit run-down, but this is an interesting spot if you are into geography or Indonesian history, I guess. If you walk or bike in, watch out for a group of agressive monkeys at the entrance. Probably best to drive in or take a scooter, actually.

There are a few little souvenir shops and restaurants, but don't expect them to be open until the late morning.

We went here for sunset. It was really amazing to see the moon on side and the sunset on the other. You can take a lot of good photos here. Beware of hungry monkeys. There’s a few Soi I et and coffee shops on the way.

we came here during major revamping project.
the landmark was being repaired and the surrounding area just so-so.
though if youre looking for a great biking experience you should get here since the road is quite adventurous with creepy forest, dark hill, etc.

It was ok to see it but it is already quite old. The entrance of 5000 should in be invested in the renovation of it.

This is the start of Indonesia. It has a few warongs selling food and souvenirs.

The view around here is amazing. Try getting drink at a blue warong with seats on top of the hill side.

If you are on the island of Weh, you should definitely make a trip to this place. It's the northernmost island of Indonesia and this is the tip. There's an odd monument to designate the spot, made of concrete and rebar that is falling apart. The views of the ocean from the top are good and you can see flying foxes (huge bats) on the nearby treetops.

To get here you have to go past a ton of little kiosks that sell your standard food and beverages as well as t-shirts, magnets and other souvenirs. There are also a few little bistros (warungs) that sell food like noodles and rice with views of the ocean.

And beware - there are lots of monkeys around - mainly because there are humans that either feed them or produce a lot of garbage for the monkeys to dig in. Monkeys may be cute but they will steal your stuff.

Mainly this place is good for taking selfies and if you're not into that, well, then you can observe Indonesians taking tons of selfies in every position possible. Entertaining!
