Kelingking beach definitely lived up to all the Instagram hype - this beach is unreal! From the cliffs overlooking the sea and the hike down to the beach, the views were something out of a movie.
It gets quite warm and would recommend going early in the day to beat the crowds. Definitely worth the trip to Nusa Penida island!!

We arrived to Kelingking at around 8:00 in the morning to get a great start to the day (also because of the tide tables to maximize time on the beach!!!) We were one of two groups of people there and it was amazing (Keep in mind this was during the first ramp up of COVID-19 lockdowns, so our crowd experience is probably skewed). We sat at the top and took pictures for maybe 10 minutes with just us until the other couple and us started the hike down. The hike for experienced and sure-footed people can take around 20-25 minutes if you're not stopping along the way for pictures. We stopped for pictures and to help eachother with VERY steep parts of the hike down.
As we got to the bottom, we saw the monkeys! They didn't mess with much of our things, but there was at least one person next to the bags and shoes the entire time because they initally ran right up to us and waited for us to leave something alone.
The beach was perfect and tide was not too hard to swim against, The climb back up was where things started to take their toll. We stopped multiple times on the hike back up, (it didn't get less steep, and with us being wet and tired made the stops feel longer). By this time, other tourists were hiking down and the path isn't meant for that many people!! At one point we were still hanging on the rocks to let people through that were hiking down and clearly weren't prepared for an extensive, steep hike.

Climb up a bit to the hill to get the full picture of this T-rex. There are some photo taking spot for you to take the best spot but you need to buy drinks or food to enter.
Sadly you can see rubbish all around the bushes. Hopefully people who visit there or who ever run and taking care that places can be more aware about it.

Stunning views, can get very busy.
We visited via a private tour using Warung Coconut, great value tour and extremely helpful guide. It is quite a steep trek down to the actual beach if you decide to venture down. The views from the cliffs above are absolutely beautiful. There are a selection of cafe bars at the top. Well worth a visit if you are on the island. The roads are very narrow to get there, so highly recommend using a private tour.

One of the best spots in Nusa Penida. Amazing views, make sure to get there early. Luckily we got there around 10 am and there was no queue, only a few people walking up and down. Make sure to take some comfortable shoes. We took flip flops and we had to be very careful. If you are looking to go all the way down to the beach it will take you around 30/40 minutes so be prepared for the time of your life. The stairs going down are very narrow and you have to watch your step. The stairs are pretty crowded with people coming up and going down. If you are afraid of heights or if you don't have good balance I wouldn't recommend. This does require some level of fitness but once you get down, you will encounter the most amazing sand. Just watch out for the waves as they are very strong and they can pull you in. I would not recommend swimming in these waters. Perfect place for those Instagram pics!

It was last year when I visited Nusa Penida, Bali. At that time I thought Kelingking Beach is only beautiful at photos. I wasn’t expecting too much, but when me and my family arrived at Kelingking Beach I was speechless and it’s beyond my expectation! such an unforgettable memories and it’s an honor to me that I can visit this place, I would recommend you 1000000/10 to visit this place someday! even tho the weather is hot, but it doesn’t matter!
You also can swim at the beach by walking down the stairs and maybe it will take for about 30 minutes to reach the beach. But trust me, it’s all worth it!

This place has absolutely great view. As this place is far, I would advise to try hiring a driver instead of driving a scooter as this is the safest option.
To see the cliff with your own eyes and experience the height is absolutely worth it. Then we decided to go to beach so we can swim in beautiful blue sea and play in the white sand. Trail gets too steep and there are no longer steps, you are from that point on literally rock climbing down an almost upright cliff. Wearing a shoe for this hike is a must. After finally reaching the bottom, it was all still beautiful, but the sea was also rough, high waves and strong tide, so it was hard to relax in the sea. In the beach there was only one small place selling some drinks and snacks. Overall, it was definitely very beautiful, the view and scene was amazing. The challenge is a bit hard but worth it and we all felt great after doing all this. I would give it 5 stars if only it was better maintained (stairs and facilities). Otherwise its beautiful.

After visiting Broken Beach and Angel Billabong, we went to Kelingking beach by car. The driver, Made Sutama, is also a good local guide.
Kelingking beach is so beautiful...!! See our photos.
We did not go down far to the white sand beach because it would be a bit risky and so tiring for us.

A must visit attraction in Nusa Penida. If you have so much time and not taken the "one day trip" like me, I prefer you climb down until reach the beach because it will be the greatest experience you can have here. If not, just took a picture from above, just like the most of us :') What makes me disappointed is, there are too many plastic waste here. People, we can enjoy the view whatever we want but please stay keep your trash and don't litter! it would be a shame if a place as beautiful as this would end up being destroyed due to human indifference

Yes, there are a lot of tourists here and yes, it would be great if there wasn't, but there's an obvious reason for that.
To see the T-Rex cliff with your own eyes and experience the phenomenal hight is absolutely worth it.
I didn't do anything but check the view, so I know nothing else about this place.
All the pictures in the world can't do this place justice.
If you are fit and in no fear of heights, you should definitely go down the steep stairs to the beach.
You will be one of the few who has ever been down there.
Here's a picture of Donny, the cool driver who made me scream and laugh at the same time, driving me to crazy places.. 😂
For me, it was worth my time and I recommend going there.

Hi how much time does it take from ferry dropout to kalinga beach?
Life with the Singh Sisters
New Delhi, India3 contributions
It doesn't take much time, this beach is a part of a four beach tour that the drivers offer. It will take four hours to cover all four beaches and they drop you back on time for you to catch the ferry. Please avoid taking scooty as the road is really bad and most people fall down.

Hi, just wondering if the walk can be done in thongs (flip flops) or sandals or would I need proper inclosed running shoes? or possibly sneakers okay? thanks

Hi!
I did it in Flipflops / Thongs but it’s definitely not recommendable! On the uphill I went barefoot which was ok. But proper shoes are a good choice here.
i am asking if i have to pay money in the beach ?
Arne Z
Steyr, Austria12 contributions
No. But if you forget to bring enough water you need to pay way too much for a bottle down at the beach. So better bring some money or water with you.

De weg is heel slecht of nog in aanleg. Taxi heeft de voorkeur over een scooter. Wegen zijn erg smal en gevaarlijk.
В какое время солнце светит с правой стороны скалы, там, где все делают фото? Утром или после обеда?

The sun is on the right side of the cliff after 12 noon. There many great spots to take a picture up and down the beach. Best time to take pictures before noontime

Is it a good beach for a swim?

When we were there , a young man jumped in after warning,
after that he needed help to come out! I think not everybody thinks like that to help him after a warning but there are still good people. Lucky him!
You can swim maybe in the morning if there is not too much currents and keep in mind for any undercurrents which you can not see.

If we charter a private boat from Serangan harbour, can the dingy feasibly take us to shore on Kelingking beach?

You may get down from the top on your own but again it's a difficult task and will take 2hrs to complete the activity.

How dangerous is the hike down to the beach? Is it like cliffhanger or mountain climbing? Or is there a decent trail??
GolakaNath
Mumbai, India1,456 contributions
Hello, this not a very decent trail. You have to be careful in each step. But doable in about 2 hours and at times you descent is very steep and on boulders and mostly no hand rail to support. If you are careful and have a good pair of walking shoe with full grip, you will enjoy going down. Since you will find very few people taking the steps downward, you should go with few friends and not alone. But doable. Please carry water bottle with some glucose to give you energy during the climb.

Hi, My question is how to get there from let's say seminyak?

You have to go to Sanur Harbour first. There will be a speed boat every morning. And maybe you can buy a package tour or rent a vehicle on Nusa Penida island to explore by yourself. I've got there by my company, so I just enjoy the trip and don't think about itineraries. But I see so many tourist who rent a bike too.
