After visiting Butchart Gardens and having lunch, we still had time before our ferry ride back to Vancouver. We stopped at John Dean Provincial Park and were very impressed with the trails and the beauty in the park. Definitely worth a stop while on the...More

Wanted to visit the park but the gate was locked due to high fire risk however the park was still open. As there is very limited car parking near the entrance (and none when we arrived) we did not visit as my wife had injured...More

Miles of great trails with several elevated lookouts over the Saanich peninsula and Malahat. Signage is good, and varied but firm under foot. Parking possible near the summit during summer months.

Easily accessible, great trails for all levels of walker. The lookout point is well worth the trek especially in the morning - the views are amazing. I've been many times and always discover something new, the fauna is always changing.

Located half way between Victoria and the ferry at Swartz Bay is this park set in a deep valley and nicely forested. It made for an attractive walk but an uninspiring one. There was virtually no wildlife. The lake was rather sad and swampy and...More

John Dean Provincial Park is one of my favourite spots to get away from it all. An easy 30 minute drive from Victoria and about 10 minutes from Sidney, it makes a convenient weekend outing or a side-trip on the way to or from the...More

This park is totally worth visiting. If you live in Victoria, come here to immerse yourself in a natural setting (science confirms this does great things for you). If youre visiting and you want a break from technology or museums or shopping, come here. The...More
