Visiting this kosher boutique winery was a highlight of our 2 week trip to Israel. Located near Tel Aviv, Benhaim has an annual production of only 40,000 bottles, and for the level of wine quality is remarkably inexpensive. Their wall is plastered with awards.
It's a bit hard to find, located in a warehouse behind a construction area, but it's well worth the effort. Opening the warehouse door reveals a beautiful tasting room, adjacent to another room that houses the barrels where you can get up close and personal. We also saw the wine press, the vats, the wines aging in bottles, and even the labeling machine at work. While the grapes come from the north of Israel, the winemakers wanted the barrels close to their homes so they could tend to them every day.
Karen was an outstanding guide who showed our family around the winery, and opened any bottle we wanted to taste. They were truly fantastic. I wouldn't call myself a wine snob, but I know good wine from mediocre.
I've also visited the large Golan Heights and midsized Tishbi wineries, but Benhaim's small, intimate and personal experience was definitely my favorite.

Used to be a nice place to come down to on Friday afternoon about 2ish. Someone might come and play piano, someone might might do Karaoke, not bad either. You buy a bottle of wine and plate of cheese and just sit and listen. Of late prices for wine have gone much higher then they were in previous years. His wine is good, no doubt about it but the whole affair can get pricey, so it's a little self defeating.

This is the perfect boutique winery. Super friendly staff gave a great tour of the wine making process and facilities, followed with a very good wine tasting selection. The wines are ones of the best in Israel. Highly recommended.

Small, well hidden, with few signs from the street, Benhaim is worth the effort to find. A boutique winery just northeast of Tel Aviv with an array of international wine awards that any winery would envy, they have a variety of lovely wines and some really incredible stand-outs. Don't expect much in the way of a tour, but do expect plenty of friendly attention from every staff member, including the winemaker himself. The eclectic tasting room is comfortable and intimate, and after spending as much time as it took to patiently answer all of our questions, the staff left us to just enjoy the wine samples at our leisure, unrushed. 45 nis per person gets you 2-3 wines to sample and a lovely varied cheese platter, and the fee is waived entirely if you spend 150 nis per person on wine -- not a hard target to reach when they have so many delicious bottles to choose from, in a variety of price ranges. An excellent way to spend two hours with some good friends.

I loved my stop at Benhaim family winery. They were happy to show us the inner workings and to share some delicious wine with us. The prices are very reasonable and the variety of wines on their shelves was quite nice. You don't have to be a wine expert to appreciate their product. I would recommend this stop to anyone who appreciates a nice glass of wine.

From the visit in Benhaim Winery we´ve bringing nice harmonic feeling, that are places in the world, where everything is still fine. Itay was playing piano, his father Eli introducing GREAT red wines and mom Ruti was proud of both... Nice evening!
