Hello! Vitaly Stegno here. RMH Senior Mountain Guide and owner. Thank you very much for visiting and writing a review! Yes, the Caucasus is still a wild place in terms of top-level hotels and western standard services, but we keep working hard at Russian Mountain Holidays to make the Caucasus and Mount Elbrus easier to visit for all international guests and a more western standard services place. It's been a pleasure having you here in the Caucasus and please, come back in summer to climb Mount Elbrus! All the very Best! Cheers, Vitaly Stegno | RMH Senior Mountain Guide

I got lucky choosing RMH! After scouring reviews and forums about guide companies and Elbrus, I made a short list of the most recommended companies. Russian Mountain Holidays (RMH) kept appearing in positive reviews, but I was concerned about having US/European standard for safety, comfort, language, etc. As it turns out, RMH has all of this covered and so much more. Immediately, I noticed how responsive and helpful was the RHM owner and lead guide, Vitaly. He called me from Russia when I had some questions and he told me that although many other guide companies will book you (and collect your money) for mid-September climbs, there is a high likelihood that these climbs will be unsuccessful due to weather. So he recommended I schedule before September. This high level of personal attention, service and safety from RMH continued for the rest of my climb. They were exceptional; they anticipate your needs and take care of everything –transportation from the airport, fantastic lodging in Terskol (a private room with private toilet and shower), and delicious meals from top restaurants. On the mountain, their heated lodge has 24-hr electricity, an indoor kitchen and dining hall, a bar with televisions, and ample space for gear. By far, it’s the nicest accommodation I’ve experienced climbing a major summit, and certainly the most comfortable option available on this mountain. I met plenty of climbers with other guide companies who paid more and got much less! In fact, it was surprising that so many US and European guide companies sacrifice on comfort, quality, and experience (e.g., cheap accommodations, meals, toilet facilities, etc.). Sure you probably will be safe with these other companies, but you might literally sleep with rats. (Tip: Avoid the barrels!) Most of the western guide companies use local guides anyway and take a cut. Their local guides are competent but these companies have no skin in the game. Just ask them who they use locally, what hotel will you have in Terskol or Pyatigorsk (then read its reviews of that hotel), or what will their lodgings be like on the mountain. And to any Americans, Canadians, or Europeans reading this – look at the reviews for RMH. I picked RMH because the great reviews, and I can’t say enough positive things about my experience with them. But the best part, which I didn’t expect was the RMH guides and Vitaly. All I wanted was to safely summit the mountain. What I got was lifelong friendships and a wealth of stories! If you’re coming all the way to Russia, do it the right way with RMH and get the full experience. – You will thank me!

PRO ! RMH are on top of everything. POINT! From organisation before the trip, responses to questions before, during and after. To organisation, security, food, lodging and guiding those guys are very attentive to clients needs. Going to Russia to do this is not without insecurity. But with RMH adopting international standards of services you rapidly feel in good hands. I would highly recommande Vitaly, RMH CEO, and is team to anyone who desire to climb Elbrus. At last, having the CEO of the compagnie avalable all time ... is more then I ever expected.

After climbing Kilimanjaro in 2017 I was longing for my next adventure and Elbrus for many reasons was on top of that list. Being a resident in Dubai I researched and got in touch multiple climb operators local and international. But out of all the companies Russian Mountain Holidays stood out for multiple reasons. • Communication – From the onset RMH has been the most responsive of all the companies I contacted. Be it at high camp at 3850 meters or while in the valley RMH answered all of my questions promptly and clearly. • Product – RMH takes pride in their product and does not cut corners when it comes to quality of food, lodging, airport transfers or equipment rental. They offered nothing but the best to their clients. • Price – Yes, one can climb Elbrus paying 900 Euros and onwards or possibly cheaper if trying to climb on your own. However if you are looking at a guiding company and a provider who gives your money’s worth I can vouch for RMH and the price point matched the level of service. • Guides – They make all the difference on the climb. On summit night I have seen groups with a climber to guide ratio of 5:1 or more but RMH ensures a 3:1 ratio on summit night. The guides were fun , spoke good English and were great leaders. • Vitaly Stegno – I left this for the very end but this livewire CEO of RMH is an amazing human, mountain guide, singer, MARRIED and a father of one (Sorry bro) who comes from a family of pioneers in Elbrus mountaineering. He left no stone unturned in taking care of his clents. To sum up, I came to RMH as a client but left as a member of the family. Look no further .. They run this game !
