About
The Purangi Winery was established in 1985 the 37th Winery in New Zealand. The Evans Family who moved from Hong Kong were welcomed as settlers by the district in 1966. Our products are made in the traditional manner with purest ingredients hence the company name Purangi Estate Ltd or "PurEst". In 2009 we built a wood fired pizza oven and launched the Purangi Winery Pizzeria which has been more and more popular. We produce many of the ingredients for the pizzas, making the pesto and pizza sauce and using a wide range of fresh herbs and vegetables from our garden. Our bar in the Coromandel invites you to enjoy all our homemade products: Cider, Wines, Long Drinks and (in winter) Mulled Wine as well as a wide range of national and international beers. Relax in our family friendly environment. WE ARE IN THE PROGRESS OF RELOCATING AND ARE NOT OPEN UNTILE FURTHER NOTICE!

SO MUCH FUN
Dec 2017 • Couples
I came here a few years ago with my partner at the time and had the coolest typical kiwi experience. The owner is such a laugh and awesome knowledge of his brews. The estate is situated in such a beautiful rustic setting and its really lovely to enjoy some drinks and wood fire pizza in amongst the trees.

If you like wine and fruit liquer you have to stop
Jun 2018 • Couples
This lil boutinque has been shunted up the road. Make sure you gps it and go slow not to miss the driveway as they arent allowed a big sign yet!!!
The fruit liquers are beutiful, lemonchello 99 % close to italy version. Make sure to stop and drive up to the left the view alone is to be seen and the tasting is well worth it.

Go for the people and stay for the Spirits

We had five people in a row tell us to go to Purangi, andI will now join them. Its a beautiful location, big gardens and and outdoor pizza oven, the tasting room is delightfully funky and the barkeep is an absolute delight. Great place to have really good pizza and some tasty liquids, especially on the way back from the beach or a hike. Also the wines are not the reason to go, its for the experience and for some of the liqueurs they produce are really delicious. We also got the scoop on a great off the track beach for the next day!

Magical find
May 2017 • Couples
Looking for a light lunch and maybe a tasting after our hike to Cathdral Cove we stumbled on this little beauty. We weren't sure if it was open as there seemed to be a bit of action with trailers and utes. Luckily we forged ahead and were welcomed with the offer to taste a range of fruit liqueurs, wine, cider and spirits. The owner was in the middle of relocating the business up the road and the place was a hive of activity. He made time to tell us about his unique products and listened to our travel tales. The inviting smell of the wood fired pizza oven proved too great and we tucked in to a truly tasty pizza in a delightful and quirky garden setting. We soaked up the early may sunshine and the delicious cider - sitting here writing this review I regret not adding a bottle or two to my take away order.
I well recommend this great little place and hope we can find it in its relocation when we return.

Fabulous place, wonderful welcome
Apr 2017 • Couples
Popped in here early evening (on a very very wet day!! - a month's rainfall in one day) for a quick glass of kiwi fruit wine .... wrong time of year for it but the owner couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. We ended up being invited into the 'tasting bar' and tried a range of wines, liqueurs and spirits, on our very own 'tour' .... all this with good humour, much information, and despite being busy with pizza making and many other guests. Definitely recommend the passion fruit and feijoia liqueurs - our little taste of NZ back in Blighty. Thank you for making our final evening in NZ a particularly memorable one. Hope to be back ....

Fantastic home made pizza in a lovely location
Apr 2017 • Family
I understand that they are about to change location but we found our visit there last week just brilliant. The atmosphere was very casual and laid back which is what we like. I hope they keep this vibe after they move. My 12 year old sun loved the table tennis table , the wood burning stove and we all loved the amazing pizza and the amusing host. You have to try their cider and their wine. Would love to visit again one day when we return to NZ.

This place is just something else, so original, rustic and nothing at all like it!
Apr 2017 • Friends
Absolutely loved my experience here, not at all what I was expecting. There's just something so special and different about Purangi, the laid back rustic vibe, minimalistic plastic chairs and ping pong table make for a very fun afternoon in the sun. Not for those expecting a "fancy" winery experience as the place almost reminds you of an antique shop with vintage furnishings. Staff had a great sense of humor, service was great, all around atmosphere was fantastic. Look forward to visiting their new premises in the near future, a little goes a long way with this place!

Best Gin I have ever tasted
Mar 2017 • Couples
Stopped in on our way to another vineyard while on vacation in the Coromandel. This place blew us away with their friendly staff, low key and laid back they made us feel really welcome. A great sampling of spirits, liqueurs and a few wines. I highly recommend the lemon Gin, absolutely delicious with some ice and soda water. Can't wait to go back on our next visit to NZ
