About
The Hoi An Silk Village, officially opened in August 2012, is based on the ancient silk weaving traditions of Quang Nam province that used Hoi An as a commercial seaport for over 300 years. Located down the street from Hoi An's town center, the Silk Village offers an experience like no other. During the tour you'll learn about the entire production of silk from silkworm to dress. We also have a spacious restaurant serving up local delights and a high-end silk showroom where you can have custom garments designed.

Absolutely worth it! Started with an ice cold Mulberry welcome drink in the most beautiful setting ever. Completely fascinating tour of will production from start to finish. I had loved breeding silk worms in my childhood but never appreciated the intricate processes involved. Thoroughly appreciated the hard work these ladies put into their trade. The goods in the gift store were phenomenal! We had the loveliest guide, who spoke beautiful English and felt absolutely no pressure to make any purchases but oh boy...we bought a lot! Too difficult to choose and very affordable prices. Would highly recommend.

The hotel is beautiful but we have to point out something that really bothered us. Your attitude towards hotel customers is lacking. To check where the missing spoon is or where the glass is that we didn't return to the place or any other question as if we took it in our luggage only leaves us with a bad taste for a good vacation that was.

I have been there, and the settings and atmosphere are really nice, if this was a resort or a restaurant only.
About the silk village we were a bit disappointed, as we thought there would much more to see on the silk production and less time spent on the show room, which at the end we understood was the main aim of the place.. But hey, if u like shopping, go there.. But not if you want to see the full production.

Our hotel did a fee shuttle bus to the silk village but was not going the afternoon we wanted to fo so the hotel rang the village and they arranged a free taxi there and back. When we arrived we got a beautiful drink of mulberry and peach followed by our own private tour. Saw the mulbury trees with cancoons and the fruit of the tree followed by the a look at the different stages of the silk worms and then had a look at the weaving. This was such an interesting tour and she was able to answer all our questions.
The end of the tour was in the shop they were not pushy which I liked and I bought a beautiful scarf.
The village is only open 6 months and I think most tours are in the morning but it may be better to go in the afternoon as we were the only ones there. Went @ 3.30
It's $5 entrance.

We have good experience at Hoian Silk Village to know the history and on how to make the silk. And we can buy the highest quality silk goods we cannot buy anywhere at Hoian except silk village. I recommed the Hoian Silk Village.

We were taken here by our guide and I'm so glad we do. It showed you the whole process of silk production from the tiniest silk worms eating the Mulberry leaves to huge ones. To cacoons to the spinning and weaving process.
We were then shown around the silk tapestries and watched the young girls making them. Their eye sight is so good but sadly fails quickly as they reach the age of 30. In another section is sewing machines to make silk clothes. These articles can be purchased upstairs either as silk rolls or as actual clothes.
There are also other work shops for you to enjoy.
The shop is beautiful as is the display of lanterns etc

So glad we went it gave us a true appreciation of the production of silk.

We walked to the Silk Village from Hoi An instead of doing a tour with the travel agents. pretty straight road out there and took about 30 mins. we paid 100,000 vnd each for the 2 of us which included a really nice tour guide named Hanh. She had very good english and took her time showing us around. It was really interesting. Then like other reviews we got to the end of the tour there was no pressure to buy anything..
We also got welcome drinks, free water at the end and cocoons to bring home.
Unlike other places in vietnam this place also had spotlessly clean western toilets.
Would def recommend this.

Great morning. Do yourself a favour and visit. Learnt about silk, the silk grub, tested the silk and even tried a puppa. Excellent value. Biked there via the back route through the rice fields - shown on google earth, this was great too.

Visiting the Silk Village was one of the highlights of our trip in this beautiful city. The silk making process was fascinating from the tedious labor of raising worms to extracting silk and at the end, the beautiful quilts with rich colors.
Entering the village was like stepping back hundreds of years into the old Vietnamese culture with women in traditional Vietnamese costumes, making silk, being the breadwinner of the family, while the husbands are busy studying with big dreams that someday they would repay their wives for all of their hard work.
The Silk Village buildings were elaborately covered with beautiful art works, sculptures, and mosaics. Each piece represents a history or a story, a fairy tale, from descending dragons, flying frogs, to many fish tales …these were well explained by our friendly tour guides.
We were a little skeptical before coming here, because we didn’t want to take time away from seeing the historic city, but it turned out to be one of the best spots of our trip.

We did the 1/2 day tour, just the 3 of us. We were picked up from our accommodation and from the moment we arrived the experience started. We were met and had time to sit and drink mulberry juice before a very informative and hands on couple of hours. Thư Mion was a fabulous guide and allowed us plenty of time to have hands on experiences from picking leaves to feed the silk worms to weaving on a traditional loom. Yes we did buy some silk items from the onsite shop but at no time did we feel pressured to do this. We finished the tour with a delicious lunch. If you enjoy traditional practices and history this is a tour you will enjoy. It was informative and a quiet, calm tour.
