If you read my review of the nearby Pousada Reino Encantado, I describe how I had the best encounter with the Macaws at the drinking trough for cattle in the paddock before the lake. Plus I provided some pictures.

Arrive just before sundown and you will experience one of the wonders of the birding world. Thousands of egrets, macaws, parrots and other birds come here to roost for the night. Palm trees rise from the centre of the lake which was formed recently after a dam was built. It is in these trees that the birds roost. As the... More

Amazing Spot. Relaxing. In the middle of the palm trees and the parrots. A must to visit. Better in sunset

The perfect ending of the day in Bom Jardim (Nobres) after visiting Reine encantado, serra azul, rio triste... From 5 pm all the birds are "fighting" for a place in a three. Bring a binocular or a camera with alot of zoom.

Visiting this spot is a must. Stay a night or two in Bom Jardim and you will be happy and relaxed! You can visit the macaws at sunset and sun rise. Nice Eco tourism!

We popped in here towards sunset as the Blue and Gold Macaws all come back here around then. It was great to see them (and some woodpeckers) but the light fades pretty quick so I think you are better off going early morning before the Macaws leave for the day.

This was the only saving grace of our trip to Nobres. Our guide told us that we would see lots of macaws at this lagoon and I didn't believe him. I was therefore incredibly surprised when we saw so many mini-macaws and blue and gold macaws. We even saw a burrowing owl on the drive out. I would definitely recommend... More

After a drive through a field of cattle near Nobres and in the little town of Bom Jardim, our guide led us on a very short walk to a small lake with two observation decks. Jutting out of the lake were many palm stumps and a few palms trees. On the other side of the lake were more palm trees... More
