Maybe we were lucky, but we had an English-speaking guide, and loved the valley and its sights. Found it quite strenuous, but then we are not young. Also turned down the rappel! And, like others, loved the lunch, though not much choice for vegetarians.

Due to the heavy rains in the previous day, we were not allowed to get into the water (river and waterfalls), but, even so, it's an impressive tour. We walked 4km, through stairs and trails, to contemplate the waterfalls. Boca da Onça and Fantasma waterfalls are really impressive and you get wet only with the water spray. We also saw... More

We were very disappointed with this trip. We had done the Rio Da Prata trip the previous day, which was perfectly bilingual and lots of fun. What a difference with Boca Da Onca! No-one speaks English. They dont't even try and just ignore you! So you have no idea what your day will look like, where you need to be... More

The place is beautiful and well worth the visit. One complaint: The tour was all in portuguese! (and it was long, which was fine, it just meant the fact it wasn't in english was more annoying) We felt mislead by the hostel/guidebook/etc, thinking that the tour would be in English. If they can't do it in English, you'd hope they... More

While I admit the nature is nice to look at, the tour could not have been worse. The entire trail is maybe 4 kilometers long, yet it takes about 5 hours to complete. There are stops every 40 seconds or so for those who are too weak to continue without a water break. If you are not 80+ years old,... More

Jack, I can understand you were bored because you enjoy more challenging adventures. Being Boca da Onça certified in the Adventure Ecotourism Management System we have safety rules to follow. We did a full day tour at Boca da Onca which included the 90m rappel, the hike and lunch. It was the first time doing rappel and we absolutely loved it. The hike was ok, there were a lot of stops for pictures which was a bit annoying but there was a longer stop to go in the water which... More

Seeing a spec of a 4-5 hour hike, I was expecting something demanding. In fact it's an hour's easy walk for 4k up and down a valley to see nice waterfalls, but the tour makes it last a lot longer by taking you in groups, in which everyone but us took selfies every 15 seconds. But in the end, it's... More

Good facilities (even with the pool under reconstruction); No english speak guide/staff (wich is a shame ´cause they have such a beautiful flyer); no english signs on the pathways; shadow walk most of the moments; 830 stairsteps in the end with 11 stops (on the way/coming back from rappeling); if there´s just one person to do the rappeling they don´t... The Boca da Onca fazenda offers hiking and rappelling and it's really worthwhile to take both in combination. After a short introduction and a 7 m rappelling at the farm, the groups are taken by car to the rappelling platform. The platform is 90 m above ground and people go down either alone or in pairs. Everything is supervised by... More
