Capt Joe, Fernando, and Catie are amazing! We took a dinner cruise and a snorkeling trip on the VI Cat and they were both incredible. The dinner cruise was timed perfectly so that the just as we turned in towards the harbor the sun set and the island lights came up, absolutely stunning. The crew kept us entertained and informed as the whole time.
As for the snorkel trip to Turtle Cove, that was something that just can't be described. Again the crew was on top of everything! I don't think anyone on that trip had snorkeled before, regardless the safety briefing and care by the crew was impressive. Fernando was very informative showing us where we could see turtles and explaining what they were doing, how they lived and there normal habits. The trip back to Frenchmen's Cove was another fun and entertaining ride.
Neither excursion was expensive but was worth every penny. We would fly back next week just to go out again on the VI Cat if it were at al possible. Absolutely the best experience we had on our vacation!

Our family went on a trip from St. Thomas to Buck Island. Snorkeling at Buck Island was very good with good water clarity. We were able to see sea turtles and the reef had good numbers of fish. Captain and his crew were excellent. I appreciated the staff's attentiveness of needs of the passengers. My daughter is new to snorkeling at age 9 and she was made to feel at ease and enjoyed the experience. The only negative from our family's perspective is we would have liked to spend more time snorkeling after the guided snorkeling tour. However, when we signed up for the trip, we did acknowledge it was only a 3 hour trip. If we were going to select another trip, we would definitely use the VI Cat, but book a longer trip to enjoy the snorkeling.

We did the Taco Tuesday sunset cruise and the next day Turtle Bay snorkel cruise. Both trips were fun and the crew was fantastic. Fernando was on both trips but the captain and other crew was different (I wish I could remember their names because equally outstanding). They made it all fun and energetic while adhering to the current COVID restrictions which was commendable. The food on dinner cruise was average but sunset views and drinks were great. They toured the yacht harbor on the way back which was fun to see. The snorkeling was great fun and Fernando found the turtle as well as numerous fish along the coral. These tours were convenient since we are staying at the Marriott Frenchman’s Cove.
The crew on the boat is what makes this trip exceptional and highly recommend.

Captain Joe, as well as John and Christian, were amazing! We are a family of 8 with all different abilities. My parents in their 60s and 70s, as well as a tween niece and teen nephew and my own tween (10 & 12)…and my husband and I (in our 40s)….ranged in ability from expert swimmer to quite a few first time snorkelers and first time ocean swimmers (only had swam in a pool). John sat with us and the kids and had beautiful picture cards and pointed out the fish and sea turtles we would be seeing on our trip. He covered a lot of fun facts before and after the trip. They supplied the kids (and adults) with pool “noodles” which helped tremendously to allay any fears the kids had. The kids really enjoyed it!! We did a 3 hour trip which was enough for our family, as the newbies didn’t have the stamina. The sea turtles were an awesome treat! The service aboard the ship from the 3 crew was amazing! We didn’t need to get up and walk about. They brought drinks (rum punch for adults - yum!) and snacks to each group. My parents sat under the shade at the front of the boat and said they had just as good of a time! I caught them snapping pictures of us and the sea as we sailed out. We were sure to sit over the netting of the catamaran with the kids for the full experience and they had a blast! The temp tattoos made the kids feel special! Best deal ever for the 8 of us! We would go again and highly recommend to others!

Hi BambiB_and_Fam, thank you so much for taking the time to leave us your review. We are so happy our crew went above and beyond to accommodate everyone in your family. John is definitely full of knowledge and we are glad he was able to sit with you and the kids to show you all the amazing sea life you get to witness underwater. We are also very pleased that the equipment we have on board helped tremendously with the kids and their fears. Our crew loves tending to our guests and serving drinks and snacks for everyone to enjoy. We absolutely loved having you on board The VI Cat and are glad all members of your family enjoyed the experience. We hope you will visit us again in the future! Thank you again!

WE do this every year to close out our annual visit to St Thomas. The crew are amazing and you can't beat the view. We normally do either the dinner cruise or the sunset cruise and I would recommend any of their outings daily.

We booked a shore excursion through the Regal Princess. A bit of a walk from the ship, and the moment you climb aboard, your cares melt away. Motored over to Buck Island where our guide led us to a green sea turtle on the floor, who then came up for air amongst our group. Next, we saw a stringray, and finally snorkeled around the reef and saw many fish and live coral.
Our guide "Tyler" was excellent, as was the captain, Joe and his crew. Professional and well guided excursion. The snorkel equipment fit wonderfully well, which made viewing the sealife even more enjoyable.
On the way back to the town, they offered rum and alcohol free punch, chips and salsa. We were with a great group of folks from our ship and also a resort nearby.
The sail back to port was very relaxing. Tyler is also a comedian. I would definitely recommend this trip, escpecially if your first time on a catamaran. (both sun and shaded seats)

The staff was great, however a few warnings. First the reef is not in good shape from all of the people snorkeling. You only have about 45 minutes in the water. It’s close to a one hour ride to the sight.

My biggest concern after having been a diver since 1987 is safety. Most places don’t let you drink before you get in the water, and the company did not serve us, yet there was a family pounding drinks back the entire trip. They should not have been allowed in the water. The crew was oblivious to their actions. If one of them had an issue in the water because of their level of intoxication that takes the safety personnel away from the group. Additionally, only one staff member is in the water for approx 40 people and they get out of the water after you see a turtle and the reef. Any inexperienced snorkelers should hope their fellow snorkelers can help because the crew is on the cat.

Not worth $85 per person for 45 minutes on a damaged reef with potential safety issues.

Hi Dave, thank you for your review. We appreciate your feedback. I would like to know more about this to prevent it in the future. Please know that if such behavior was brought to the attention of our crew, we would proceed with safety first as we always do. I also would like to note that the Captain and an additional crew member oversee the snorkeling activity from the boat so that there are 2 people who have eyes on the entire group while the guide is in the water. While you may not have noticed that, I will commend our Captain and crews on their attention to detail during the snorkeling activity that is often times mentioned by fellow travelers. Again, thank you for your feedback we appreciate you.

We enjoyed our snorkeling experience but we did only see 2 small turtles & we were under the impression we were going to see a larger quantity of turtles (the booking photo was misleading). What we did enjoy was the two hard working deck hands & their steady pours of beverages at the end of the tour. The one who was in the water was very knowledgeable & the one who was on deck was great at making us laugh while giving her safety speeches. The snacks were also super sub par & once again, served at the very end (just like the beverages). Overall, I don’t think the experience reflected the price we paid.

Thank you for taking the time to review your experience, rogeld1990. We are happy to hear that you enjoyed our hard working crew and got to see two sea turtles! We apologize that you felt misled. Water is served upon boarding The VI Cat and non alcoholic drinks can be requested. We don't start food and drink (alcoholic) service until after the activity for safety reasons. Take care.

Captain Ryan, Nando, and Serena are an excellent crew! So friendly, fun and accommodating! They took great care of everyone on the ship. Handled these new Covid rules exceptionally! Everyone felt comfortable and traveled safely - catered to all levels of comfort in today’s new normal. Provided us beautiful views of the sunset as well as different gems around the island! So much fun! 🥰

One my weeklong trip to the VI, I had the pleasure of going on the cat not once, but three separate times. The first one I did was with my girlfriend and was the sunset cruise with drinks and appetizers. The staff was FANTASTIC and friendly, the sunset was beautiful, the drinks were strong and this event was probably my favorite night of the whole trip. The second excursion I did was the day long snorkel trip. The boat ride was lovely, and the snorkeling was so cool! I personally had low hopes for snorkeling and didn’t think it would live up to the hype, but I was dead wrong. We saw a turtle, ray, and hundreds of amazing fish. I will say my only negative would be I wish we had more time just for snorkeling, as it was probably only about an hour long tops. After this we went to a nice beach, where there was a restaurant you could purchase dinner at (it was one of my best meals all trip), or just lounge on the beach for another hour or two. Lastly we did the dinner cruise which had AMAZING food, and again strong drinks and an amazing crew. Book this trip now and don’t look back! And to the Cat Crew - stay amazing.
