Driving to castle 'de Haar' is already an attraction of its own. You pass beautiful landscape and an adorable village 'Haarzuilens'. The castle itself has a big parking lot across the street. The castle gardens are beautiful and worth a stroll. Everywhere you have a great view on the castle. The entrance fee with two children and a parking ticket... More

We cycled from Utrecht through Maxima Park and along the canals. It's a beautiful trip through avenues and farmland. We skipped the castle tour and just explored the gardens as we have two small children. The staff were very accommodating even though we arrived late afternoon.

A Neo-Gothic construction from 1892 built by Pierre Cuypers. Everything a castle should be and more was used to design this castle. There used to be a real castle, but that one fell into disrepair. At the end of the 19th century a very rich marriage, with a Rothschild no less, made it possible for the owner to rebuild it.... More

We didn't know about this museum / castle until we were looking for a day out in this area. We were so surprised and overwhelmed. Loved our visit to the castle and the story behind it. We also did the guided bedroom tour which was great. Other parts of the castle you can visit by yourself with a small map.... More

This castle has Neo-Gothic splendour - renovated in the 19th century by building on ruins of a centuries-old building. There is a lot of history around the castle with the people who visited in amazing luxury. The rooms have information cards (Dutch and English) which point out the main items of interest, and volunteer guides are on hand to answer... More

Upon arrival you can choose between walking around in the neatly laid out gardens, have access to the castle (but limited areas) or pay a little bit more for a tour through a number of rooms of the castle. Take the last option as it makes the castle come to life. Other than that, after the tour enjoy the well... More

History lovers probably won't find this castle to be that interesting. While their are books and brochures you can buy to tell the history of the castle, it has been completely remodeled and looks much more modern. You can get a pass that will allow you access to the park and the common rooms of the house, but you have... More

Beautifu and Big. When you pay for the tour you are able to see 7 bedrooms in stead of one. You can finish or start with the self guided tour. The outside is very nice. We had fun doing the maze. Also a wedding was their. We weren't able to eat at restaurant. We arrived in bus. Short ride from... More

We were 7 and paid 104 euros including parking. For that you basically see 3 rooms, the Ridderzaal,a bedroom and the kitchen. We were done in 20 minutes..... I visited the castle in the nineties and there was a lot more too see for a lot less money but apparently since 2000 it is now a foundation. So they added... More

Stopped off today as we left Utrecht. We arrived early so the carpark was empty and the queue at the ticket desk was small. We didn't do the castle tour but we did walk around the gardens, had a go at the maze and had our picnic in the grounds. We also stopped off for coffee and ice cream at... More
