Simply beautiful!

Lovely garden, and a very enchanting castle, its as if i was stepping into a fairy tale. However, its a long walk to and from the castle from the bus stop.

We enjoyed the grandeur of the castle and the rooms open to the public. While the tour was in Dutch, the English sheet provided was very detailed in providing a description of each room and our guide encouraged questions. We travelled to the Castle by public transport from Utrecht, there is only an hourly bus that will take you to... More

American family traveling with 13 year old and 10 year old. We loved this place! We were with our Dutch cousins so we had handy translators for the tour - we do not speak Dutch and the tour is given in Dutch. We recommend the audio option for any foreign visitors without Dutch cousins. The castle was rebuilt with on... More

The building and the gardens: amazing. Reserve a whole day to really explore! A free tour of the castle every hour. The tour is in Dutch, the guide speaks a little English, but you can pay for an audio guide (I recommend you do) which also gives you nice detail about the house, the history, and the inhabitants. I cycled... More

Wow! It is a shame that I live so close and don't get to visit more then ones a year. You can spend all day but even a couple hours would do. Small kids might be hard for the castle tour but (not allowed if they cannot walk (all the stairs) and you cannot carry them since it is to... More

De Haar Castle Utrecht (in Dutch: Kasteel de Haar) has a rich history and a link to dancing and dining with the rich and famous. Currently the castle is owned by a foundation for its preservation and display to the general public. The foundation is run with numerous volunteers (like the castle guides that tour groups through the castle day... More

Cool if you take the children's trip that is in Dutch. It's hilarious. The garden is also nice for walks.

What an amazing place and fantastic gardens to wander around too. We didn't do the guided tour (we had 3 young children with us) but if we go back and have the time we'll certainly do that as would have liked to find out more about the history of the place. Also, the café was very good, good quality service... More

My wife found this castle on line, and I honestly had low expectations of "just another historic site". But what a great way to spend the day. The tour itself is great. LOTS of history, and an intriguing narrative about the castle, complete with a "forbidden love" story involving the Rothschild family. The property outside the castle is huge and... More
