This was both beautiful and fun! Reminded me of the awesome walk through majestic Zion canyon in Utah except you actually have to swim through parts of Somoto and the water is probably 20 degrees warmer. Some great cliffs to climb and jump off of...More

The people with Somoto Canyon went above and beyond to make this a great adventure. We stayed at their place - great food, and great location. Do yourself a favor - do this tour!

It will count for your workout of the day, you will have PLENTY of chances for selfies, you can pick one or two precious rocks as souvenirs (you must walk over a mine of Jade and Quartz) you will find serenity and natural beauty...you may...More

My favourite in Nicaragua! Unique experience, beautiful landscapes, good hikes, and a lot of swimming. Possibility to do some jumps off cliffs on the way from different heights. You do not need to jump if you do not like it. We chose the 6 hours...More

The canyon was amazing! Absolutely loved it. If you arrange your own transportation don't waste your money at the initial place (with all the signs) you come upon for tour guides. They want $30 Usd or more. Take the dirt road that's right next to...More

Great nature, cool guides who took care of everybody and also carried our stuff in a waterproof bag, just a small group of 7 persons (during the 6hrs we just saw 3 other people and some locals). Great hikes, swim and jump sessions up to...More

I did not know what to expect, but once you get to the place, make sure you go all the way in to the park entrance. Do not get sucked in by the people that come to you right of the main road. Once you...More

Thank you for your review. It raises some interesting points about sustainable rural community tourism which we have been practising since 2008. You are right to mention the problem of the people soliciting tours on the highway at the entrance to the national monument. We...More

Real nice activitie for a good price (20$ per person). 3h30 of walking and swimming in the canyon, may be longer if slower.

Although not as thrilling as expected definitely worth a day. Good views, great cliff jumps (5,8,10,20m). We booked it via treehuggers in estelí. Took a bus and picked up at Somoto bus station. A shame that we had to arrange ourselves to come back (luckily...More

This isn't an excursion I'd recommend for just anyone. You have to be able to swim well in cold water and you have to be sure footed. It can be a little dangerous, but it's a truly beautiful place. We did take some tubes and...More
