After 27 years living in many countries & coming from Sydney. We chose Wonga Beach to retire. This is where the reef meets the rain forest. One of the most amazing paces to live. Our beach is lovely & we walk most days on it. There are two caravan parks right on Wonga Beach.
We are close to many other attractions, however it is quiet & idilic here.

We were there today in 38 degrees! It is a beautiful stretch of deserted coastline but be aware, as with all the beaches on his coastline, that these are not beaches where you would swim unbathe year round. Crocs, and box jellyfish make swimming dangerous and you can burn once less than 20 mins in the heat here in March. That's not even summer! But it is beautiful to visit. Look for shoals of fish feeding, small crabs, and generally potter about on the beach! (Briefly!)

I live here and walk along this beach everyday and it's beautiful. It's the best to walk along when it's at low tide as the tide goes out so far.

I've spoken to a lot of tourists and they don't seem to realise the croc dangers are very real.

Just because you don't see them doesn't mean they aren't there watching you.

Please be careful and don't swim in the water, or do silly things just because your on holiday and living a little.

We stopped here on our way to do a special beach sacrifice of my wedding flowers. Couldnt take them back to Vic so decided to do something special on the beach. Pulled apart bouquet and drew love heart in sand and placed flowers along heart line with our initials in the middle. Beautiful beach to choose and took home some beautiful memories of the day. It will hold a special place in my heart forever.

This is a beautiful part of FNQ. Walking along the beach is wonderful and it is a nice long beach so again great to walk or run along. Did go in for a swim but exited the water very quickly when I realised I was sharing the water with a baby crocodile.

A great quiet beach to take a stroll and would highly recommend the burgers at the Wonga Beach Caltex, would have to be the best burgers north of Cairns!

Wonga Beach is about 10km long and largely deserted. Wandering along the beach at low tide is amazing, with views toward Port Douglas, Snapper Island and toward the mouth of the Daintree River. Mangroves, coconuts and overhanging trees add to the spectacular views. Locals told us a 3m croc hangs around the beach so keep out of the water! In fact a dog was taken in January while the owner was fishing. This is a beautiful unspoilt beach but given its location next to the Daintree River it is not surprising that the local wildlife is around. Wonderful quiet spot, fantastic for a romantic walk or fossicking for shells.

Quiet and peaceful part of the world. Can often have the beach to yourself, not a good swimming beach but nice for a walk. Need to watch for crocodiles.

This is an excellent beach for long walks with the rainforest on one side and the ocean on the other - if you keep on walking in direction of Cape Tribulation you will come up with wild areas with rivers and little lagoons - it really starts feeling a bit like a Jurassic Park journey - not too far away from the truth when you know there are large salt water crocs looming around!!
