About
Hook-a-Barra at the Daintree Saltwater Barramundi Farm offers fishers and non-fishers the chance to lure and land on of Queensland's most prized fish, not only for its fight but also for its delicious eating. This fun and informative experience includes one hour of catch and release barra fishing with all equipment, tackle, bait and tuition included plus access to special viewing tanks. Hook-a-Barra's multi-species ponds are stocked with over 1500 barramundi ranging from 50cm to over a meter, but don't be fooled - these fish are wild creatures and are not trained to jump on your hook, so our expert fishing guides are on hand to help you perfect your techniques, land your spoils and learn more about this iconic species.

The lady operating Hook a Barra on the day explained the set up very well and made suggestions. Most of the equipment was well maintained except for on one hookup the hook snapped in half costing me a trophy catch. The operator was very active in assisting and anglers and non anglers. Well worth a visit.

What a great experience. The crew team were awesome, the quality of fish was amazing and fought hard on light gear. Enjoyed it so much I had to go back again with the family for all to experience. My first fish was 1 metre in length followed by a 95cm, 90cm and 85cm. What a ripper little session

That is a big session! Not everyone gets to be there when the big fish are biting however for the next two months there's a reason there's a barramundi closure! Not at Hook-A-Barra though. Thanks for the shout out!

The staff here are so helpful ,giving advice on best lures and techniques with different weather conditions and times of day . Well worth giving this a go . We went 3 times in total over the week we were there . We didn’t have kids with us but others there did and the staff were very patient giving them extra help . Most people in our time slots caught at least 1 .great value

Bit expensive but if you don’t have the means or the time to catch one in the wild then it’s pretty good. Staff friendly, easy to find. It was hot as on the day we visited. A water dispenser would have been welcomed. I did however out fish everyone on the day so for that little chestnut, thanks 🙏

I'm glad you were top rod on the day, that's always a nice win :) We charge 60 dollars for an adult and 50 for a child to fish however it is possible to join the guys fishing on their tour for just 10 dollars General Admission if you don't wish to fish. It can be as expensive or cheap as you like depending on what you can afford. We will take in to consideration the water dispenser. Our water is UV treated and filtered and good to go from the tap if you have your own water bottle.

We had such an amazing experience. The Courtney farm tour was great. Very informative and Matt was so down to earth and approachable. The platter at the end of the tour was delicious and we stayed to fish some Barra. Highly recommend
We will def be going back for lunch.

We like to think we have something in there for everyone in the family. I'm glad you agree. Taking a fish home is a solid option if you don't have food here :)

Visited over Christmas break. Great time had by all, everyone hooked a barra and we even took one home for dinner that night. Owner took us on a tour of the tanks in the shed where the kids got to hand feed the smaller Barra. They loved it. Good time. Well worth it.

This was my first try at catching a bigger type fish and was a great experince. I managed to have success eventually after several big bites then had teo more catches. The advice given by the instructor re how to catch a fish was brief but she msde sure everyone had a good time and a good chance to succeed. It was certainly hot fishing as there wasn't any shelter from the sun but that's part of fishing.

A great way to spend the day in Daintree!

Jo was extremely attentive, friendly and unbelievably patient. She wouldn't let me stop or give up until I caught a barra.
She gave tips on technique, changed lores & rods and overall was very involved in giving you the best possible experience.

I would highly recommend Hook-A-Barra and definitely come back!
