Beautiful building and backyard garden with a tower. The actual art exhibit was not that interesting as the descriptions were only in georgian and it was mostly portraits of men. But the architecture of the main building and the garden were well worth the 5 gel entrance fee.

The complex includes museum that has a lot of 19th century photos and a few personal effects; defensive tower where Ilia was born during Lezgin's rampaging in the area; and a family home that has only three rooms and much smaller than attached winner (marani).
House is located on the square in the city center just near other attractions of Kvareli.
Entrance charge was 1 GEL and English speaking guide was available.

The building itself is definitely worth a visit. Really cool.
Though the exposition is somewhat disappointing. Hardly any English information is provided which restricted the exposition to look at pictures of Ilia Chavchavadze and his family. The exposition in the house at the back and the garden are more impressive. The wine cellar is still in use.

This palace has undergone a big renovation job and is looking in reasonable condition, though signs of wear are beginning to show. The grounds are beautiful and include a labyrinth, shady walkways and small cafe around the back.

A wonderful excursion in one go. The guide told a lot of things. Well-groomed area, beautiful. We learned a lot about the history of Georgia. In my opinion, a must visit.
