When visiting the Palenque Ruins you should definitely not skip this little museum. Don’t expect much from the staff but there are good and easy to understand signs with all of the displayed objects.

If you are in Palenque, don't miss this museum. If you know nothing about the ancient Maya, you will learn a lot and be impressed by their culture. If you are a Maya scholar, you will be awed by the artifacts displayed there.

I don't know why it would be closed but not sure. I assume if the site is open so will the museum.
