until the day we met Kip, we did not know what exciting beauties the north of Iceland was hiding! I advise everyone not to limit to the south of Iceland, but to dedicate some days to this less-known but otherwise fascinating part of the island.
Kip took us safely with his Nissan Patrol through rough paths, rocks and glaciers to see that part of Iceland that otherwise we would never have been able to visit. in the meantime he told us many anecdotes that are not found in the guides.
Always kind and skilled, Kip made us spend an unforgettable day in maximum comfort.
We had a great time with Kip and the kids (12 and 15 Y.O.) were super-happy!
Thanks for all Kip!

We had the best experience with Kristin Ingi. He was so knowledgeable about the geography, the topography, the history and natural wonders of Iceland. From waterfalls to geothermal fields he guided us with enthusiasm and awe. He was also so considerate of our particular desires and limitations. Kris was personable and exuberant about his country and culture and really transmitted the soul of the country and it’s population. He had a wonderful vehicle for traversing all terrains and made us feel very safe with lots of contingency plans in place. We recommend him without hesitation

Spending a whole day with Kristinn to visit Askja and the surrounding area was truly one of the best things we did while traveling Iceland in the summer 2020. He made us feel very welcome and he always found a way to involve the kids, even though they didn‘t have one language together. But they sang and explored stones so everyone was very at ease. He really knows a lot about volcanoes, lava types, geological history so we can truly say that it was a day where we learnt a lot, really a lot. It also led to a different point of view for the rest of our travels, because we knew so much more. And also Kristinn was always willing to explain us things about Iceland and the Icelanders. Especially if you are traveling with kids (ours were 6,7 and 10 at that time) it was nice to be able to set the pace and not to worry about other participants. We would do it again without any hesitation. We hope to come back one day to Iceland, we all fell in love with this beautiful piece of earth and Kristinn really was one big factor for this!
Thanks a lot

Four of us in our 60’s joined Kristin for a daytrip, 8am to 6pm, and every minute was fun. Ask Kristin loads of questions, he knows so much about every aspect if Iceland that you dont want to miss his answers. He’s smart and funny, and warm, and oh, right, the scenery and geology were fascinating too! My advice, bring a thermos of hot chocolate.

Making a day trip to Askja with Kris was definitely the highlight of action-packed 2 weeks in Iceland. Not easy on the kids (10 and 6) but Kris made all of us at ease and engaged with bounty of knowledge and anecdotes and even a stern Icelandic lullaby. Unforgettable experience, which made me think of Conan Doyle's The Lost World

We are a group of friends that did a private tour to Askja. The communication with Kip via email was very easy and I got answers to all my questions immediately.
Unfortunately, day before our tour Kip informed me that he is ill and he send Ragnar to replace him. So, we did not have the pleasure to meet Kip but if the sentence “Show me your friends and I will tell you who you are” is true, Kip should be a great guide. Ragnar was very friendly, knowledgeable, and easy to get along with. We learned so much about Iceland from him.
This full day was one of the best things we did in Iceland. I would absolutely recommend this tour and Kip.

What better way to see a new country than with a local in a super jeep! Now add to that the fact the local loves his country, knows it intimately and is happy to share its infinite secrets with you. That is what a trip to Askja with Kristinn Ingi means. Oh and did I mention a beautiful voice. So once you are in the black and white moonscape, request him for an Icelandic song and you'll feel you're in the company of those much talked about Icelandic elves :) I would have put the recording online but he made me promise not otherwise!
We had booked a one day tour to Askja with Geotravels (we didn't know of KIP then). Due to crazy weather conditions, Geotravels preponed our trip by a day (they were sweet enough to inform us and take care of all the logistics). As they were fully booked out, we ended up with Kristinn. And thereby began almost 15 hours of unadulterated fun with some amazing insights into the culture, history and geology of Iceland. Not once did Kristinn hurry us up - not once did he suggest that we skip a place because we were getting late. And he was super -attentive to everyone's needs. So when my four year old cousin wanted to make a snow man and snow angels, Kristinn was there in the snow playing with her, when some of us couldn't complete the Askja hike, he accompanied the people back. Whenever we took out our cameras to capture the amazing landscape around us, the car would automatically slow down or even stop.
The trip to Askja was one of the highlights of out 11 day drive across Iceland and Kristinn made it memorable. And did I mention safe? After all he is part of the safety and rescue team in Iceland (comprised solely of volunteers)! Hence he knows the Highlands like the back of his hand.

I have used Kristinn's guiding services during a daytrip to the Askja volcano on June 2014.
Since we came early in the season, the usualy long and difficult road to Askja had been much harder than usual, because a lot of snow had not yet melted away.
But fear not, thanks to Kristinn's superjeep and amazing driving skills, the road proved to be a smooth ride.
Kristinn is highly knowledgeable and clearly very passionate about his beatiful homeland.
The trip was very enjoyable, to a large extent thanks to Kristinn, who made it a fun and interesting experience.
Couple of days after the trip, he was also very kind to help me with questions about Iceland via email.
Will definitely use his services again my next time in Iceland. Hopefully soon.
Highly recomended.

What a fantastic day we had with Kristinn! We were looking for three things: local knowledge, the ability to stop at will to indulge our interests and someone else to do the driving. We were not disappointed. It became immediately obvious Kristinn loves both his homeland and his job with a passion.
Before we headed off, Kristinn discussed our preferences with us and devised a route that accommodated both our interests and requirements. As well as being able to explain the geology of the area, he also proved to be very knowledgeable about the flora, fauna, history and local customs. Kristinn is a very personable guy and peppers his commentary with amusing details and anecdotal stories. (Ask him what he once did to escape the heat. We sun-loving Aussies could not stop laughing at his response to a 30°C day!) The personal nature of the tour meant that we were able to have conversations with him and discuss points of interest in detail, something not typically possible on larger tours.
Kristinn was extremely attentive to our needs, giving very thoughtful assistance to one of us who had suffered an injury earlier in our holiday. He not only took us to key sites, but also to special spots he knew of, such as a place where colourful wild flowers grew against stunning black sand which delighted our resident photographer.
We had a very full and fascinating day that included stunning natural features, interesting human-made sites, great company, excellent food and rest stops and amusing instruction on how to pronounce Icelandic words. We cannot recommend Kristinn and his tours highly enough.

We went with KIP Tours to Askja Crater, driving for hours across the splendid remote interior of Iceland to get there. Along the way Kristinn told us so many really interesting facts about the land, the geology, the geography, the history, the legends that we got more insight form this one trip than from any other. He is friendly, professional and extremely knowledgeable and articulate in English. I would definitely go with him again. Here is a link to a photo album I made of this trip. -Hope it opens for you https://www.facebook.com/anne.fox.5836/media_set?set=a.10153070769754638.1073741845.744264637&type=3
