A must-do!
We had a great time visiting the National Parks on New Year’s Day 2018. Even though it was a public holiday and everyone partied well past midnight the day before, Ales (the guide) arrived on-time at our Airbnb apartment, was extremely friendly and very knowledgeable and professional.
The hike on the unmarked route through the Bohemian National Park really got our blood pumping, but was a lot of fun and Ales was kind enough to slow his pace so as to accommodate all of us.
At the viewpoint for Pravcicka Brana he treated us to some warm herbal tea, homemade biscuits and a local plum brandy - again showing us true hospitality and making the day all the more memorable.
After hiking back to Hřensko, we had lunch at a Czech restaurant (situated on a golf course, seemingly in the middle of nowhere, but was a great, truly local experience) and drove across the border to see the Saxon side of the park and of course, the Bastei Bridge.
The parks are breathtaking and totally worth every penny.
We are budget travelers, but like to splurge on one thing per destination. This was it for the Czech Republic. We booked through Get Your Guide and communicated with Ales via email thereafter. His services are commendable. You won't be disappointed!
NOTE: Cost of lunch not included in tour price.

We loved our day walking with Jhanda in the Bohemia Switzerland National Park. The train to Decin was easy to arrange (but busy that day - wish we had booked seats) and meeting at the train station was easy. We walked the 14km or so between about 11am and 5pm and just made the 6pm train back to Prague (which was less busy). The National Park was spectacular - we saw the Pravcicka Gate, had a lot of time admiring the views, ate lunch at the restaurant up there, hiked the trail to Edmund's Gorge and then caught the boat down the gorge. Beautiful and tiring day - we were very pleased to have done it.

We had a cold but fun tour with our guide Ales. The scenery is breathtaking and Ales took us to the Bastei Bridge as an extra treat. Id recommend using his services. Having a guide who knows the area is a must!

The communication from before was excellent where we knew exactly what we were going to do and how the pick up situation would be.
Guide Ales has a great sense of humour and very knowledgeable. He even made sure our vegetarian diet was looked after at lunch.
We 1st went to the German side of the NP and then the Czech side. A tremendous day.
Will always recommend Ales. Thank you!

Ales, our amazing guide, gave us a most magical day in two beautiful National Parks near the border of Germany and the Czech Republic. He actually LIVES in the parks, and knows everything about them. Ales is friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. He picked us up at our Prague hotel in his car and took us for a private day of hiking in the parks of Bohemian and Saxon Switzerland. It even snowed, making the hikes feel like we were in a fairytale forest. The scenery is breathtaking, and Ales knows exactly where to go for the best views. This tour was a highlight of our trip. Ales made us feel like we were out walking with a personal friend, rather than on a commercial tour. He took us for a wonderful lunch at a quaint little place between our hikes, and helped us to order the best local food. At the end of our beautiful day, he dropped us off at our hotel in Prague, leaving us with great memories of these magical places. If you can possibly take a day away from Prague to walk in nature with this wonderful guide, do it! We are so glad we did.

Our family was in Prague for my niece's wedding. She arranged a group hiking tour with Ales. It was a large group (11 adults) with quite a variance of hiking stamina so Ales planned the day with a gentle start with a coffee break, an entry level hike, and a lovely river cruise that he provided an English translation of the highlights. We stopped for a delicious late lunch at a restaurant that had traditional food on the menu and lots of choices. Family members who were eager for a more challenging hike continued while others strolled the town. Everyone went home happy. Ales was professional, good humoured and flexible.

Hi. I will be travelling solo from Dresden to Prague. On the way, I thought I will start early morning and spend the day hiking in Bohemian Switzerland and then onwards to Terezin concentration camp and finally end the night in Prague (all in one day). Is this possible? I would like to know the bus / rail connectivity from Dresden to Bohemian Switzerland to Terezin to Prague, please. Also, incase i need to break my journey on the way, which would be the best place / town / city to break the journey in and how do i get there?. Also, what would the cost of a guide be? Look forward to your respone please.

Hello.
Between Dresden and Prague is straight IC train. You can use train Dresden - Schmilka (DE/CZ boarder). There is a ferry to village Hrensko (CZ). You can hike from Hrensko to Pravcicka gate or Edmund´s Gorge and then to get on the bus 434 to Decin and continue to Prague.
My opinion is, that it is too complication to use public transport from Decin throught Terezin to Prague.
I can pick up you at Hrensko and make tour the National park Bohemian Switzerland and help you to transport to Decin or Terezin. The price is depends which tour would you like in Bohemian Switzerland and if you like to transport to Decin or Terezin. (around 150 EUR)
