I really enjoyed this museum and wish I had gone to see it earlier. There are sculptures from many international artists. There is a shorter route which takes about an hour and a more extensive route which takes several hours. It's about 60 miles or 120 kms from Riga. It's easy to do in a day trip or staying overnight in Sabile or another nearby town.

The only thing I didn't like was - I was charged 30 santims for a map of the museum. Since a map is pretty much needed to know what the various sculptures are and where to find them, I think it should included in the admission price.

This is actually more like open air interactive exhibition than a a museum. Museum sounds very "dry", Pedvale is very open and fun place to visit, if you happen to like non-traditional approach to art and nature. We had excellent weather to hang out in there and instead on planned half an hour we needed almost 3 hours to experience all the place. Just amazing halfday for only 3 eur. Only thing is that very possibly you need a car to get there with comfort. Not sure about buses or aranged tours.

A modern sculpture park in rural Latvia. This setting has many large outdoor sculptures from a number of international artists. Check the website for other events. There is a tavern with food on the grounds, and a guesthouse that you can stay in overnight. A quiet, rural setting. Well worth the trip from Riga (60 km).

Pedvale open air museum is certainly interesting, it's spread out over a large area, so you really need at least 2 hours to see it properly. there are well over 100 sculptures on display, it's worth a visit if you're in the area.

So, we drove and drove and drove to get to this place, then it looked half-abandoned. We found someone to pay for the entrance fee. She asked us if we wanted to pay extra for a map. We foolishly said no, because how could we need a map for a sculpture park?

Friends, PAY FOR THE MAP. We missed so much. We could see sculptures in the distance, but didn't have the time and wherewithal to figure out how to reach them.

Still, what we did see was wonderful. We were the only visitors, and it felt like we found a secret field where aliens left giant artworks of varying degrees of awesomeness.

We visited this beautiful sculpture garden on the advice of an artist/sculptor friend. It was a totally unique experience to walk through the field (with storks playing nearby) to view, contemplate and muse over the 100+ pieces of art made of stone, metal and other materials. Located in a field near Sabile, Latvia about 120 km from Riga.

Visited this place today. Entrance fee is 3 Euro per person. The place is more like open air art centre rather than museum. Lots of art pieces made of stone and metal. Would not drive all the way here from Riga to visit this place, but will visit if around this region.
