Here is a list of things we want to do: Church upon Spilled Blood St Isaac's Cathedral Peter and Paul Fortress Yusupov Palace Hermitage Faberge Museum Pushkin We will be there Tuesday to Thursday (and then visiting Moscow afterwards). Can't see why you need to leave anything out of this very short list. You can easily do all those in three days unless you want to see EVERYTHING at the Hermitage in which case a week won't be enough.

I would advise you to start the second day with Peter and Paul fortress, available at 10.00, then - to go to the Hermitage (less crowded after 12.00), then - to go to Peterhof, in the end - Nevsky prospect. On the third day - Yusupov palace, St.Nicholas and St.Isaac's - are all nearby (relatively). At the Yusupov palace they provide audioguides - and their box office can be already outside (they open it for summer season).
