Several years ago 3 of my friends and I went to the winery for the first time. Each of us are professional in Health Care, Insurance, National Union representatives. Three times a year we go on a winery tour where we buy several cases of wine at each winery. We were directed by another winery to also visit this new place. So we fingured we still had time so we traveled down to Maiolatesi's. Each of us having different preferences selected 4 samples each of the type that the person liked. The Gentleman who was serving the sampling when we asked to recommendations and then gave our request of the 4 wines the Gentleman said "If you came here just to drink and not buy, then you can leave"as he poured the 1st sample. We looked at each other in shock. We are all in our 50's and were not dress in our suits that we wear to work so I Gentleman must have judged that way? So now be insulted knowing we were ready to spend hundreds of dollars at the establishment, I asked, Can I please speak to the owner. To my suprise the Gentlemen who was so rude said "I'm the owner". Once again we looked at each other did not finish are small sample of wine and said "We are out here!" And none of us have been back since! Bad attitude and Bad Businessman in my opinion!

I’m writing this review with mixed feelings. My friends and I went to the Winery for brunch on Sunday. It was our first time there and we were impressed with the beautiful setting. Our server was very friendly we were on our way for what we were hoping would be a fun afternoon. The seven of us haven’t been together in a group outing for a long time due to the restrictions with COVID. After we were served our drinks we wanted to get a group picture. A gentleman Who I believe might have been the owner even agreed to take our picture. Afterwords we went to retrieve our glasses of wine that we sat down on a small table. We were then met by a woman who might have been the owners wife not really sure and proceeded to rudely chastise us for setting our glasses on the vacant table all the while lamenting how she would have to re-sanitize it because of the Covid. She even very rudely stated that we must think Covid.
We were very shocked by her demeanor and apologized profusely but it really put a damper on the rest of our afternoon and we promptly left after we ate because we felt so unwelcome. The sad thing is we were trying to get together to have a little fun to get away from having to think about Covid but she very rudely reminded us that she was being inconvenienced by having to sanitize a small table which probably would’ve taken all of 15 seconds. The food was very good and even our server was somewhat embarrassed by her rudeness and was apologetic. All of us had wanted to buy a bottle of wine to take home with us but after that treatment we decided not to, and are not sure if we will go back again; although we did love the atmosphere. It is a beautiful building and a beautiful setting. I’m not sure if the woman was having a bad day perhaps she was. Unfortunately her rudeness towards us turned ours into a bad day as well.

Good morning, I'm sorry for the late response, not sure why I didn't get notified of your review. I sincerely apologize to you and your friends for the way you were spoken to by either the manager or my wife, what you described is unacceptable. I'm not sure what else to say other than I'm really sorry we ruined your day. This covid mess has been difficult on everyone including us, but no matter what your experience is unacceptable. Within the next month or so we should be starting up wine tasting again if you would like to give us a second chance I would like to have you join us for a complimentary tasting with your friends. If you are interested you can email me personally at sal@maiolatesiwines.com Thank you Sal Maiolatesi

We had our wedding there and can't say enough about how wonderful it was. Pauline was amazing at decorating and planning the wedding, and always got back to me quickly when I had a question or concern. The ceremony was in the orchard, which was beautifully decorated. The ceremony couldn't have been better- the bartenders and other workers were friendly and professional. The views were also amazing. We had a small hiccup with COVID and both Pauline and Sal were supportive and helped give as many options as they could. Thank you for an amazing day!

This place was big happy surprise. Brand new beautiful tasting room! Wine was real good, both the red and white. Really liked the dry moscato! And the food was great, the pizza and the Mediterranean plater with home made pita! We are from North Jersey where there is great pizza, so it's saying something when we say the pizza was great:).

Least favorite of all the Lackawanna County area wineries. Visited on afternoon of 4/20/17. Wines were very average. Tasted nothing worth purchasing, unlike other local wineries where multiple bottles purchased.
Staff was not very helpful, in fact were downright rude.
Location is in a strip mall in an industrial area with heavy, and dangerous, traffic flow.
Will not be returning.

Well I wrote a response hastily thinking what you wrote was true..... My bad, I should have discussed with my staff. How sad it is when you write a review with no truth. I guess you're only truth in your review was "tasted nothing" because that's the truth. You left without tasting one wine. And as one of my best and most loyal employee said "I told him we don't open dry reds at this location" and she also told you where the winery was, your response was "we're not going in that direction" and you walked out. Shame on you for writing a totally untrue post. I offered you ( in my original reply) to come to the winery for a complimentary tasting. Sorry, but no thanks no complimentary tasting, you can stay in acnj

Hello Jenn. Your 1 star review is laughable. When your bachelorette party came to our winery the bride couldn't make it to her chair without help she was so intoxicated. When a second intoxicated person in your group stumbled to the bathroom and missed the door hitting the wall and smashed decorative wine bottles we let it go and cleaned up after them. We offered you to stay and eat and we would provide soft drinks and water. You refused, cursed at my staff and called your limo driver to pick you up..... If being "Horrible"is refusing to serve intoxicated people than so be it. I run a fine establishment, with top notch wines and foods, it's too bad your group had to ruin what could have been a great experience. Sad that everyone was so drunk at 3pm.

Pizza night. Food is good, not great but good.
Wine is good, not great but good.
They can't accommodate larger groups on deck, so you'll be seated inside where it's really noisy!
Been a few times. Nice night out, something different.
Still prefer wineries in the Finger Lakes better.

My girlfriend and I have been here many times, friday entertainment, pizza nites, and celebrations. Sal the owner and staff are delightful, freindly and great wines. One of the coolest little wineries around, the location is just lovely with a fantastic view from the deck and really neat shop inside. If you're ever close by don't miss it, they don't disappoint....They have a great opening for the summer late may every year with great bands and atmosphere, check out their site on facebook....

Extremely disappointed. I was told by the clerk, “ we don’t taste dry reds at this location, it’s a waste for us, we don’t have enough customers that ask for dry reds here. You can pick up the same bottles in the fruit juice aisle of Wegmans. Wish he was still back at Mermelsteins.

Hello Holly. Yes, that is correct, we don't open tasting bottles of dry wines at our Mayfield location as over 95 percent of our wine sales are sweet and semi-sweet at that location. The winery on Green Grove road in Scott township is 12 minutes from that location. Why don't you come here? We serve all of our wines there, you can taste anything you would like. Not quite sure why a 1 star review was necessary, hopefully you'll stop by and see the huge difference between Mermelsteins and the winery. Thank you Sal Maiolatesi

Nice selection of dry wines. I am a fan of Cab Francs..and they had a few.
There was also a long list of sweet wines. We got a cheese platter and sipped on the deck. No vines onsite.
