I felt wonderful wandering among free-flying tropical butterflies! This place allowed us to feel the flutter of their wings, see the vibrant colors and experience a jungle climate.
We were greeted by a knowledgeable, nice guide. He told us that the butterflies come from Asia, Africa and the tropical jungles of South America. They vary in color, shape and size, as do the caterpillars. Some caterpillars even resemble a jewel!
Visitors can observe the magical butterfly hatching process through the incubator window.

Good thing to visit 2 attractions - butterflies and Tērvetes Dabas parks. Free parking, with easy access. Family friendly. Can be visited in rainy weather as well. If you will wear yellow or blue T-short, butterflies will sit on you! It's a bitt hot and wet inside, so take you jumper off.

Keeping tropical butterfly house in Latvia can have high costs. As we found out butterflies just live around 10-30 days, so these guys need to order cocoons every other week to keep them flying around. It's small green house but well maintained, lot's of food for butterflies, high humidity and temperature around 30 degrees Celsius. Compared to other butterfly house in Latvia (LU botanical garden) in this one you really can see diversity – more than 10 or maybe 15 types of butterflies. There is explanatory pamphlet and world butterfly map. Some activities for kids before entrance. Some people complain about the 3,50EUR entrance, but considering costs of maintenance, it's appropriate.

This was my first time in this kind of place- and i loved it! I felt so happy like a child. There is not only butterflies but turtles as well, and adults are allowed to hold them. Go there!

Small place, but a lot of things to see. Kids enjoyed trying to find the butterflies, whose pictures we got at the entrance. And after kinds are provided with colours to paint the drawings of the butterflies seen - or the butterflies of their fantasy! We got there on a rainy day, but inside the butterflies' house it is always warm and sunny like tropics!
