It is an exceptional experience, walking through the ancient araucaria forest, you breathe peace. The landscapes from Piedra del Águila and Cerro Anay are magnificent. And even better, because we managed to see the sunrise, thanks to Eliecer Soto from Nahuelbuta Nativa, we leave very early from Angol to arrive at sunrise time. Amazing.
To go by car, you must go in a 4 x 4 truck because the roads are in poor condition; there is little information from tourism operators in Angol; Arriving on your own requires good weather, there is a bus that leaves at 7 a.m. towards Vegas Blancas where you have to walk 7 km to the entrance of the park (entrance is not charged -Jan 2024-) and from there continue walking for approximately 8 km, in the diversity of trails that there are.

The park is great. Poor facilities and access.

Awsome trees 2000 years old. Araucarias and Coigues. Woodpeker birds. Views.
Best time should be April or September.

It is a charming place, where the native species of trees such as araucaria and birds are preserved, while you go all over the park you can do trekkking, picnic, or go watch the sunset at the stone lookout of el aguila which offers a unique view, where yes or if you have to take pictures and pick up the trails with their unique vegetation. It is a paronama for the family friends or lovers of nature.
The entrance to the park costs 1500CLP and has tourist guides.

This park is a really good one, the way to get there is a little awful but it's worth it. If you want to connect with nature and see a nice view, you should go to the park. It has a huge rock, called "Piedra del Aguila" where you can see the "Cordillera de los Andes" and the forest, full of Araucarias.

Another beautiful park, with primary forest and araucanias, many giant woodpeckers and other birds. The view from the top was in the clouds (even through it was sunny in Angol).
Busses only go to Vegas Blancas, 12 km from the center of the park, on Mon, Wed and Fri att 7 am and 4 pm. It is just possible to visit in a day but that involves hiking 32 km during the 9 hours you've got till the return bus. If you only want to camp one night, you need to walk and hitch hike the next day, there isn't much traffic.
Offseason, you may not see a park ranger at all, in which case the entrance is free.
In Angol, there is one welcoming hospedaje, Gina, at Covadonga 55 (no sign).

Amazing views, 2000 year old trees, beautiful flora, and spectacular birds!

Staff is friendly, speaks Spanish. Take the park map with you while hiking and most important take into account that the times for the routes are printed one way! So to get back to your car you need double the time/distance. After closing time you will be able to drive out of the park so no worries. There is enough to see and walk for at least two visits but we love to visit it a third time!

You can also camp in the park on designated areas.

The roads are dusty but alright. We had a 4x4 which was convenient but there where also enough people visiting with a normal car.
