I have lived here for 3 years and this is a place I have visited 4 times and absolutely love the view and experience of.
Unfortunately, this last hike for a friends birthday is another example in the world of people trying to rip others off and of the bad behavior and racism that persists in this country.
It's important to keep in mind that we wanted to hike and we were not taking the transportation. Which they told my friends were the same price going up and coming down. (200RD Pesos)
Normal price is 200RD Pesos just to walk up, my friends who arrived first were quoted this, when I showed up with my Dad they told me $10US Dollars a person, even when I spoke spanish and told him that I lived here.
There are no signs that show different prices and it was based purely on the fact that we were white and they thought they could scam me.
(By the way, they have done this to me before, I've come with a friend from eastern Europe who is white and they charged us 200RD Pesos each to hike the first time and then another time they forced me to pay $10US Dollars each with the same person. I've also come by myself and with my Venezuelan friends and both times they only charged us 200RD Pesos)
Whoever was in charge (La Babosa) was pissed when I came back with the right identification and reluctantly let us hike up.
Not to long after we left he (La Babosa) took a personal vehicle up and stayed at the top.
When returning my friends asked if we could take one of the empty trucks down, the first girl said yes no problem. Then a woman came over and told us no, it would be an additional $10US Dollars a person, which, if anything should be $5US Dollars because we were at the top already, but we thought would only be 200RD Pesos since that's what they said in the beginning. Regardless they said no, it's $10US Dollars each.
Lastly, when we started walking down, the owner or person in charge (La Babosa), walked after us and followed us down the walkway and when another group of people waved my friends in the truck wanting to help us, the owner or person in charge started screaming, yelling, and cursing at them.
Why is a grown man screaming in the faces of two women and my dad who is almost 70?
We left and my only regret is that I didnt get a picture of his face (La Babosa)
I don't believe I nor my friends will ever come back here again.

If you want to die, ride in one of these trucks.
The driver of the transportation had a discussion with one of the tourists on the top of the mountain, and drove us down to scare us, putting our lives in risks. All the people in the back of the truck were yelling and crying for their lives. I thought will be the last day of my life since is a VERY dangerous dirty road.
The beauty of this pace was destroyed from this mad driver.

Had an amazing time at the mountain but the excursion began at one of the lakes in small boats. The lake was dirt brown and the rivers to the ocean wete not scenic. There is a drive through a coconut plantation, a tour of a rice farm and a little stop to sample some coffe and be educated in local plants. The trip culminates at the mountain which was absolutely incredible. It was truly amazing but be warned the climb to the top is extremely bumpy and if anybody in your group has anxiety regarding heights and a pretty rough dirt roads beware. The total tour was almost 5 hours and truly too long. If you are able to just book a tour that gets you right to the mountain that is what I highly recommend.

Lovely time with a family of four. Beautiful views and just serene. Take your time and get the pictures out of the way, once your pictures are done just try and enjoy the air, the natural beauty around you. Our kids sat down and looked out for a bit of time while I walked around to see all the different views. Really breathtaking and worth it!
The ride up and down was an adventure but not scary (and I have a fear of heights!) I was expecting worse and it was fine. Definitely worth the stop!! Overall we spent about an hour there.

My husband and I hopped off to an impromptu Easter Weekend in Punta Cana and our first stop was Miches. It was BREATHTAKING & one of the most amazing panoramic views I have ever experienced. It was also fun trying to get cool pics on the swings, hammocks and broom (way harder than it looks!!). There's also a zip line option, along with a restaurant and a small boutique to the summit. Perfect adventure for couples, family & friends.

beautiful views, parasail, zipline and a restaurant all in one place. On the day we visited it was clear enough to see Samana peninsula. playa Esmerelda, Playa Lemon and of course the Mountains.

We drove here from Secrets Cap Cana it took us about an hour and a half; but it was a straight drive there very easy.
Once there we paid $5 each to get in and $10 each ($20) for the transportation to the mountain.
It is a rocky ride up but when you arrive it is worth it! There is a small restaurant on top and they have typical dominican dishes; we ordered 2 fried fish with platains and 2 sodas and it was $16 total.
Because it was only the two of us it was easier to hire their photography and be able to get pictures of both of us on the swings. Their photographer was absolutely great! He took his time with us; and gave us ideas of photos to take and took the shots at the perfect time. The more you buy the lower the price in photos we ended up with about 15 of them and it was worth it.
I highly recommend this trip; for adults and maybe teens; it is a high dangerous space so if with little ones you'd have to be very careful.

Montaña Redonda is a must see for anyone visiting the Dominican Republic. It is about a three hour drive from Santo Domingo which makes it perfect for a day trip. You can rent a 4X4 and drive up the mountain yourself, or park in the parking lot and pay $200 pesos per person to ride up in a big truck provided at the site.
The views are breathtaking. On one side you see beautiful green mountains and on the other blue ocean. Montaña Redonda is great for pictures and to spend a peaceful afternoon. There were a decent amount of people there when we arrived, but it didn't feel crowded.
There is also a restaurant at the top which provides a perfect place to grab lunch while taking in the view.
Montaña Redonda has been by far one of my favorite places in the Dominican Republic. The view from the top of the mountain is unmatched.

Most people who go up the Montana Redonda do so on an organised tour from their resort, but it is quite possible and a lot cheaper to do so independently if you have your own transport. We drove to Montana Redonda from Punta Cana, parked in the 'official' car park for 100 pesos and then walked up the mountain, which takes about 1-1.5 hours depending how slow you are and how hot it is. It was 32 degrees when we did it.
You have to pay a US$5 fee per person to enter, but the view from the top is worth it. You can see for many miles around in all directions. The concession company has installed a small gift shop and cafe at the top along with some swings and there are benches and plenty of grass for picnicking.
You can also drive up if you wish, bu there is probably an extra charge for this.
The only slight negative is that the walk up is along the same road that the tour buses use, rather than, as we had hoped a hiking path, but it is nevertheless very worthwhile.

Hi,
We are interested in a 1/2 day tour of Montana Redonda. Anyone who has taken an excursion with a tour operator from Punta Cana, can you recommend the tour operator and were you pleased with your experience? Thanks!

Hi, we would like to see Montana Redonda but would rather not to go on a tour with other people. Can you get there by using public transport? We will be staying in Uvero Alto so thought that there might be some guaguas next to the main road ?
Many thanks
Hola, disculpe que no te habíamos respondido antes pero teníamos inconvenientes con nuestra pagina.
Si encuentras transporte publico para llegar los dejaria en la misma entrada de montaña redonda

I would like to know if you have the costumes there, wings, broom? Also if someone is afraid of heights is it too difficult to travel to the top?

I don‘t know if they have costumes but I don‘t think so. You travel up on the back of a Truck and sometimes the road is quite small so you see down the hill.
