Los Estoraques is a beautiful landscape in the Norte de Santander region of Colombia. The area is perfectly safe to visit, although it's quite a long drive from the more popular tourist attractions in the regon. Basically the landscape has many beautiful rock formations created over thousands of years by the wind and the rain. The park is very easy to visit from the village where it is located, La Playa de Belen. We paid for a guide, Julian, who not only showed us Los Estoraques but also the town and he recommended a restaurant for lunch, so well worth the money. If you are interested in landscapes and want to see something that you can only see in a few places then you should make the effort to visit Los Estoraques. Some of the websites describe the visit as a hike but it's really up to you how difficult you make the walk. It's generally a flat walk. There is a climb to a viewpoint but you could easily choose not to do the climb. In addition you can visit the beautiful village of La Playa de Belen. There's not a lot to see but it really is very pretty and well maintained. There's not a lot of traffic like in other Colombian villages so a visit here provides respite from the hectic chaos of Colombia. Also, there is a hotel with a pool here if you want to stay overnight.

Playa de Belén is a tiny, pleasant and beautiful village, the main sites are (1) the village itself, all in white with flower pots at all the walls, (2) the los estoraques and (3) los apocentes, another group of natural sand structures. additionally there are some hiking opportunities.
As of 2016 by bus it took 7 h from Bucaramanga via Aguachica to Ocaña (14 000$/person, 1.5h) to Playa ($6000 in a collectivo until 18:00 or 35 0000 for a cap).

Great place to walk and enjoy the view. We walked with a tour guide his name is sayid which was super nice and provided us with good information of the history of the estoraques. The view is unique. The park is FREE. Only pay the tour guide and the entrance has a little house market with cold beverages and I taste guarapo. The town is small and very pretty all houses are white with dark brown doors

From Ocaña it is about half an hour drive to La Playa and Los Estoraques. The area sure is special as these rocks are a bit unusual. But my idea is that you only go there when you want to see the beautiful village of La Playa . We did not walk too far as it was hot. It is quite a large area , also the village is built next to those rocks. The Natural Park is 500 meters from the village. You can easily park your car close to the park. Also go to the "Pinos" where you have a nice overview of the area.
