The fourteen locks Canal Centre has good parking, not too expensive, and the centre staff were friendly and very helpful. They supplied us with a map of the short walk. The locks that have been renovated are spectacular but there’s a lot of work still to be done, as you make your way towards the M4. What a feat of engineering to have put it there in the first place!

This was my second visit to the Fourteen Locks Centre. Both times I enjoyed the cafe. The staff are friendly and helpful and the food is tasty (light snacks only, don't expect large portions). The cafe is also dog-friendly and our labrador was welcomed warmly by the staff and even given a couple of treats by them. The canal walk is ok, but because the canal is not a functioning canal, the water is stagnant which makes it less pleasant. There are some interesting things to look at along the way. The car park was free the first time I visited but has recently introduced a pay and display machine, which is £1 for four hours. Very reasonable, although I can think of prettier places to walk which have free parking, so this makes it less likely that I'll return here.

This is not based on the cafe at all but solely on the walk. A friend and I came here hoping to have a scenic walk along the canal but we were left feeling very disappointed. The locks are not working locks any longer and there isn't really much to see as you take a stroll. At one point we were alongside the m4 for a good ten minutes. Very disappointing as it's on my doorstep and I was hoping to use it as a regular walking path.

We had coffee and bacon rolls in the cafeteria before our walk. The service , food and coffee is excellent and sensibly priced and well worth a visit. Then take a walk up the canal heading toward Risca, the towpath is in first class condition with no mud and very easy walking, the views as you approach Risca are magnificent .

Good free parking, although I understand that a parking charge is to be introduced. Canal Centre has no information about restoration plans or about history of this fascinating canal. Two locks have been restored (2010) but little else has been achieved since. Very disappointing! Council owned, the area shows a complete lack of foresight on the benefits development could bring to the area. There appear to be some hard working volunteers that are clearing vegetation. I could find no display boards showing any development plans or past historical information of these 14 locks. Massive potential that needs a group of motivated people to drive this forward. Local Council should be ashamed not to have capitalised on the Lottery grant that enabled two locks to be rebuilt.
