The series of fourteen lock gates which helped this wing of the Monmouth and Brecon canal to climb or descend this twisting hill is an incredible feat of engineering well worth seeing even if they have now fallen badly into disuiser.

Lovely walks around the area and along the canal. You can feed the ducks then have a drink or food in the cafe

We visited the Visitors centre for breakfast and then started our circular walk from the centre, such an enjoyable walk, the walk is around 3.7 miles and you experience amazing views and countryside around the M4,at one point it is quite a steep walk over...More

Not having the post code, we had some trouble finding Fourteen Locks but we got there in the end. Free car park with plenty of space. There is a path on both sides of the locks but the path that is nearest to the locks...More

Stopped here for lunch on our way to Cardigan. Lovely setting on canal and good reasonably priced food. The centre also has a shop with different local and canal related items.

We walked our dog him earlyish one morning before the cafe was open, so I cannot comment on that. The walk itself was pleasant enough and nicely shaded. There is a part where to carry on the walk you need to cross over a road,...More

That’s no problem, it’s a decent walk. The canal does break up briefly just past Two locks in Cwmbran as you near the town centre where it has been diverted into tunnels. You can carry onto Brecon if you like.
