Admittedly I am more of the dog walker than a golfer, but have also played this course, which is tricky even for the best - if you don’t hit it straight down the fairway, you’ll be in the thick heather which will make your next shot a hard one!
Back to the dog walking - the course allows dog walkers (as long as you’re mindful of the golf going on) and there are plenty of beautiful views. If you walk across the course and onto the Heath beyond you will get to the Sportmans Pub where you and the dogs can quench your thirst. I love walking the dogs around here.

A real gem...had one of the best rounds of my life here...the fairways were like playing on quality carpet and greens were so slick. .

Larry Olmsted does a great job explaining the different golf Ryder Cup venues and says the Walton Heath is one of the best

What a day !
From the moment I called to book my tee time for the 3 of us, i just new this would be a special day.. the wonderfully helpful lady who took my call explained perfectly what we should expect from the club house etiquette and rules to the tee time allocation, we were looking for a mid day tee time on the old course, " Theres a number of 4 balls before you if you could put your tee time back slightly, you shouldn't get held up " we took her advice and did it pay dividends....we had a 12:16 tee time, so we arrived at 10.30 for breakfast. Delicious with the added bonus of free coffee.. we enquired about hiring/renting lockers, they are free to and the gentleman who was looking after the lockers and changing rooms was as helpful as the receptionist.
Back to reception and the lady explained closing times for the bar and restaurant, she then explained that there were a few local establishments where we could eat at about 6pm. Over breakfast we settled on the local Italian went back to reception where the lady, I wish I knew her name, rang the Italian and booked a table for us....onto the golf..
Make no mistake, this is a tough course over heathlands with an abundance of gorse and bunkers, which is probably why the US Open qualifier is held here in June...however it is well laid out and presented beautifully, the fairways were in very good condition and the greens were true and fast..this is definitely a course where you must use proper course management....go of the fairway, into the gorse or the woods, you will be in trouble, take your medicine and get back on the fairway...
After the golf, towels and toiletries are provided in the locker rooms and then back to the bar to review the score card.... I play a genuine 28 it has been 22 but that was some time ago, undoubtedly my best days golf over all... so don't be put off if you're also a high handicapper.
The clubhouse is full of history and must be seen to be appreciated.
It's not cheap but it is money well spent!
Cant praise the receptionist and the locker man enough and must slap show respect to the green keeping staff for an excellent day.....cant wait to go back...

There really aren’t that many accessible golf courses where you can play two of the best courses in the uk side by side, where the staff are so friendly and helpful and where the food and drink are exceptional. It is an event I look forward to every year.

Played here for a society golf day and found the whole set up first class. from the well maintained club house to the challenging golf courses it was a total pleasure.
the courses look open and straight forward but the rough is a low blanket of gorse that can punish the wayward shots. As with any course accuracy is the key.
the club house has members only areas but the normal bars and dining room were typical of an old well established club.

This whole golf club experience is among the best of expectations.
The course is renowned but is challenging and will impress, but is certainly a stiff test.
The clubhouse service and amenities are wonderful. Comfort and also the displays offer a lesson in golf heritage.
The bar and restaurant are impressive with especially courteous and attentive service.

This golf club deserves the place it has in the Top 100 lists. The course is superbly maintained and the clubhouse has an atmosphere which is welcoming yet 'of an age'.

Had a great game of Golf here on such a brilliant course. Would very much like to play here again! It was in such great condition and the pro shop staff were very friendly and the caddy master was brilliant in sorting a lot of the day out.

Played old course on 2/10/13 this one of the finest most natural feeling inland courses I have played anywhere.after playing the long par3 first you cross the road and begin a journey into golf as it should be,rewarding good golf & punishing bad golf.some truly stunning holes, playing off the whites as we did is somewhat daunting but I think personally it made the experience all the better. If you ever get the chance to play this superb course do not hesitate, tho not for the novice. The secretary, staff & members all deserve a special mention also, all were helpful & welcoming..a days golf as it should be,thank you Walton Heath GC,it's how I remember golf growing up many years ago(& by that I mean, everything done properly with the correct feeling of a friendly members club)
