About
Hitherto typical for post-enfranchisement Mazovian village – row village was recreated within the area of the Museum of the Mazovian Countrywide in Sierpc. It comprises 11 peasant farmhouses from north-western Mazovia. Cottages surrounded by vegetable and flower gardens or apiaries and animals living here make an impression of a village that is still teeming with life. Buildings interiors are adjusted to their functions, they change with calendar pieces of paper torn. Cottages furnishing and the appearance of farmhouses themselves indicates financial diversity of their owners. Next to affluent flats, there are poor cottages furnished only with the most indispensable appliances. Such background turns out to be excellent for presentation of everyday village farm and domestic activities.

We really enjoyed our visit to this museum and were very happy they had audio guides that could be set to english. The property was quite extensive, with each section representing a different time period and/or region of Poland. Most collections of houses represented "peasant style" rural living in the early 1900's. Representations incluced farm houses, barns, a school, a church, and mill.

Nice place to bring children and to learn more about the Polish culture esp the countryside life

You need to have at least 2 hours to enjoy the place.

Also, would be better if they can provide english signages for non-polish visitors

The Mazovian Countryside is one of the most beautiful areas of Poland, with a rich cultural heritage that goes back for centuries. This large "outdoor museum" is best experienced with an overnight stay at the new (2012) hotel on site. We stayed here for a week to celebrate our cousins' wedding in nearby Sierpc, and were the only guests in a brand new hotel that was extremely quiet, affordable, and unique. It was refreshing to be able to jog in the morning, alongside charming farm animals, for a mile loop inside this private forested compound. Authentic Mazovian cottages of every type have been carefully moved here from all over the Mazovian region, and locals dress up in vintage work clothes and carry about their day as if it were 300 years ago. Take the time to stay here, and you will experience the real Poland during a time of absolute peace and tranquility. A gem, and a truly special place!

Museum of Masovian countryside. If you want to see how typical masovian village looked like 150 years ago this is a place to visit. Original households, tools, furnitures, cloathing. You can actually go back in time. All of this beautifully located close to hotel Skansen.

Made the trip here at the suggestion of a Polish guide I had hired to help me find Polish ancestors. This collection of old cottages, barns, a church, etc. were well worth seeing. It gave me insight to how my Polish grandparents and their prior generations lived. Many of the cottages are farm cottages of people who had very little in material wealth. The poorest had dirt floors and maybe two rooms that up to 12 people would share. Made me appreciate the background of my relatives. Well worth seeing, especially for those interested in Polish farm life in years gone by.

Peaceful and relaxing place, really well kept, beautiful grounds. Lots of things to see. You should reserve a whole day not to rush through it. Kid friendly. Very well organized and the staff are pleasant and helpful. Beautiful views. Would definitely recommend it.

Sierpc might be in Cittaslow city. Everything is pure and natural. Life is so slow. Warsaw is so close. Cute place to be a citizen
