This is a great little castle. The exterior is undamaged although there were several renovations over the centuries. The original interior is mostly gone. there is a small, beautiful Renaissance garden which is very enjoyable. The restaurant at the castle has good food and a great terrace to enjoy views of the castle and surrounding area from.

If you manage to evade the misleading directions provided by Google Maps you will arrive at a very nice picturesque place. Visually impressive, the castle is nestled on a hill between rocks. The courtyards seemed to me a bit over restored. We only visited the main collection with a tour group. They have some very impressive items, Gdansk furniture, Meissen and faience porcelain and so on. None of the items are directly connected to the castle. The most interesting room for me was the last one, where they have some great paintings by well known Polish painters (Wyspianski, Malczewski, Kamocki, Weiss, Chelmonski). It was sad that we only had 3 minutes in that room. In general, I really hope they will allow individual visitors to visit the exhibit without having to join a Polish language tour group.
The restaurant Herbova, by the way, on the premises, is a must. It is excellent, both food and service.

Nice castle if you are in area and you have free time. If youre interested in old things or art it's good to take ticket that include exhibitions. Guide was very interesting, gardens are super pretty! Parking for about 10 polish zloty.
Disabled people don't have any special parking spot.
Toilet's inside.
Restaurant with good prices.
Good to buy online ticket so you can avoid standing in line.

Great location, cosy grounds, very small castle gardens, interiors a bit on the underwhelming side. If what you are really interested in is exhibits, you can just head directly to the National Museum in Cracow. When you exit, do not hesitate to turn right and make a short stroll to the Maczuga Herkulesa rock formation (the distance shown on the mock-up placed at castle grounds is not at all misleading).

The castle makes a good impression, located high up on an easy-to-reach rock and surrounded by greenery. After arriving at the entrance we discover that it is necessary to have a ticket even to only see the courtyard. A more expensive ticket also allows you to visit the museum. We took the cheapest ticket, still expensive for what it offers, but at least it was enough to see the context and the view from above, also on the Italian gardens below, and on the famous Maczuga Herkulesa. Little courtesy and little delicacy in relationships with tourists.

A wonderfully located castle in the heart of the Ojców National Park, beautiful sunsets, next to the Club of Hercules and nice forest paths.

the castle remains to be interesting but the service around is ridiculous and breaks everything ... rude, unpleasant, aggressive guards discourage from visiting this place... I advice to avoid them, do pictures around and go to Ojcow Park...

After two years of refurbishment, when tourists could admire it only from the outside, Pieskowa Skała castle reopened it's gates before 2016 season. All new and fresh, but they didn't avoid some mistakes, such as misleading signage on trips inside inner courtyard. The new exposition has been split into three stages (or possibly even more), where one stage ends up, the other starts. Unfortunatelly signposts won't tell you, that second stage starts in one of the rooms, so you might go around second floor looking for signs, which doesn't exist, while in fact you got to start stage one, and then smoothly move into two, without even knowing it. The art gallery looks like it has been closed, while in fact you need to push heavy doors really hard to get in - not sure, if it's worth your effort... And those slippers - they require them in some rooms, while in others you're free to walk in your shoes only - how good it would be, if that was mentioned with little sign at the door... But the castle itself is still magnificent, still standing strong above Prądnik valley, still being a magnet for many tourists.

I spent an awful day of Sunday in Krakow, the city looked sorrow for losing its charm and peace, was crying of desperation being harassed by thousands of people crowding its streets, I didn’t like it, but the next day I left for the castles tour and this was the first one on the string.
I cant express my feeling when I got around this castles, the whole drive was a treat and this castle and its surrounding felt like Heaven after the hell of the busy city. It was so serene; the whole place was conveying peace and tranquility.
The building itself is not out of this word, but the pure white of the walls contrasting with the deep blue sky was an unforgettable image. See my pictures. Again, is not a great castle but it wins harts with its location and the amity and warmth the surrounds the entire place. This makes this castle a must see.
There are a few steps to climb up but is the price you must pay for getting to this great scene. Go early and you will have the entire place for yourself.

Stopped off here as part of a tour of the national park. The castle is very impressive. We were charged 11 zloty each. to see the museum collections inside the castle. What was not explained was the requirement to wear over shoes. To protect the floors (or polish them for free.... not sure) This was fine except the rule didn't seem to apply to everyone. We saw ladies with high heels walking on the floor without over shoes, many children doing the same. The overshoes were ok for me but my wife has small feet and struggled to find anything to fit and had to wear large ones and just slide round the exhibition areas. Hence my comment about polishing the floors.
The exhibits were beautiful and really worth seeing.
I'm not sure if the castle has been over restored, but better this than for it to be in ruins.

Can anyone tell me, please, if it is possible to get to Pieskowa Skala Castle by public transport (bus) from Krakow? If so, what is the bus number, from where in Krakow does it leave and how often does it make the journey?
Thank you, Bob

Hello everyone,
We'll arrive at the Castle late in the afternoon, after the scheduled closing time (3 PM on Friday). Does it still worth seeing? What can we see outside visiting hours? Do we have access past the gates, to the park, for example?
Thank you all for any info,
Ana

The most interesting thing inside (at least for me) is hidden gardens (it is not a park) nearby the wall. It is not possible to see from outside. Unfortunately, I don't know about the gates. In addition to the castle you can visit "Maczuga Herkulesa" which is very close to walk.
