A beautiful, gothic church of St. Philip and St. James the Apostles exhibits a large and steep roof, an important element of the body are circling porches called 'soboty'. The interior was significantly damaged during World War I, but the 16th-century painting, stations of the cross and fragments of the 18th-century polychrome have survived. It is really worth to see this church.

This Unesco World Heritage Church was erected in 1520 but substantially altered in the 17th and 18th centuries when the surrounding arcades or Sabots, and a tower were added. During WWi the church was almost destroyed and lost most of its interior fittings, but was meticulously reconstructed. Ask for directions in the village. If you don't speak Polish, show a photo. The woman in the adjacent nursing home had the key when I visited.

I knew nothing about this church, I saw a sign on the road saying it is a Unesco site. This church is so beautiful! It has a kind of open room, where people probably stay during the summer, with wooden benches and a roof, but no walls. it is really worth spending some time here.

Slightly off main road, on the bank of Sękówka river. Because they built much bigger church in the village this one is only used for special occasions. Thanks to Małopolska tourist board there's a guide waiting for tourists to open the church and to share its story. If the guide isn't there - there's a phone number on notice board, and they will come to help you in about two minutes - as they did it for us. Unfortunatelly it's propably the only church of those inscribed onto UNESCO list, that is more interesting from the outside, than inside. World War I nearly destroyed the building, they restored it, but all the wall paitings have gone forever. But still worth waiting for the door to be opened, and to have a quick look inside. And the best part of it are those arcades, that circle the church around - they call them "soboty" (Saturdays), because in old days without cars people sometimes got to the Sunday mass a day before - just to be sure they're on time - so to protect them from rain and snow, while they spent the night waiting for church service, they built those arcades... Believe it or not.
