I took the township tour with Brian, because I didn’t want to be visiting a township like a Zoo. Instead I booked a tour with Brian who lives in a township and runs an educational program with his wife. You will be visiting a kindergarden first where small children in the age of 2-6 can go. Most of them have bad homes with drug and alcohol abuse or their parents left and their grandmas have to take care of them. If you like, ask Brian if you can bring something with you. Sweets are always welcome but also food and other things. After this you will visit the educational program Jorvanites where school kids and students get the opportunity to have an environment where they are able to learn and get support for their studies. This education will help them to break out of an environment with drug abuse, gangs and nightly shootings. There is always need for very basic things so feel free to ask Brian what to bring. Best tour I ever did.

Too bad it is so hard to find information on Trip Advisor for tour companies. We searched and found lots of tours but it was hard to pick a company when all of the tours were shown and were similar. But what company to choose?? Since we had to pick one and couldn't find ratings we were VERY LUCKY to find Brian at Jordan Outreach!! Brian was truly outstanding and flexible, and a caring and genuine gentleman. His prices were competitive reasonable, and his service could not have been any better!! When you have limited time and want to prioritize your choices a private tour with Brian was money well spent! We thought we knew what we wanted to do but Brian made suggestions that improved our experiences and included everything we wanted and more. The value of private tours and flexibility is the best decision we made thanks to Brian and Jordan Outreach. Booking in advance is also important to make sure you book the dates you are going to be in Cape Town. We can say enough good things about the service, knowledge, and grace provided to his guests. If you are as lucky as us to use his service you will glad you made that decision!! We spent 3 full days and wish we could have used Brian all 4 days in Cape Town but he was booked. THANK YOU SO MUCH BRIAN!!!

First off, Brian is a superb tour guide. He is beyond easy to talk to, knows everything there is to know about Cape Town, and is equally adept at explaining a neighborhood's history as he is at explaining everyday life or just shooting the breeze. I'm not a big fan of guided tours generally--usually too constraining, too hokey, and not enough information--but I loved every second with Brian. He is a special person-go and you will see. As for the specific townships tour we were on, I can't recommend it highly enough. Brian shows you the oppression of apartheid and its lasting effects, but this is not a voyeuristic or exploitative trip. Brian grew up in these neighborhoods and lives there still, and more importantly, is putting his heart, soul and sweat into helping improve kids' lives there. We met his friends and family and got to talk to them, in as normal a way as is possible for two outsiders dropping into a community that is very much not their own. Brian's remarkable skill is to make a tour that is intellectually and emotionally challenging also optimistic and even fun. Truly this was a highlight of the trip (and it was a trip full of amazing things). In fact, I recommend that visitors take this tour early in their trip so that the beauty and pleasures of Cape Town can be properly understood in the context that they emerged, rather than treating the Cape Town of people of color as only auxiliary to life around Table Mountain.

Not only does Brian seemingly know everything there is to know about Cape Town and the region, his personal history, and experience make his stories even more interesting and impressive. His personal, and thorough approach to his tours, and his desire to give you the most amazing experience, truly make him the best tour guide of Cape Town. Amazing guy guide, and amazing tours. Not much else to say.

I thoroughly enjoyed touring the region for three days with Brian as my guide and driver. He is not only a very knowledgeable guide and safe driver but also has a great sense of humour. He provided lots of useful info on the sights and history of Cape Town and South Africa. In addition, he gave some really good tips on what to do on my own after the days with him. Will definitely book tours with him again for my next visit!
