We were told we were going to a cookery lesson 2 hours. Guide left us. Shown round a garden. Then shown a few pre prepped veg. A packet of powdered spice. A man cooked it in 2 mins asked if we wanted to taste. A spoonful each. That's it done. Then taken to a room where my husband got a... More

Our guide Shashi really did his best and told a lot of interesting things about Sri Lanka natural medicine. Then, we experienced pretty good massage. Shashi told us that the massage is free but we can make a donation if we want. Still, it is not obligatory. We decided to give him and his assistant 2000 Rs. We also bought... More

The spice garden has a good variety of herbal plants with good explanations by the guide of the garden. Then visit their restaurant which is about 500 meters towards Colombo. Here they will serve you excellent spice Sri Lankan food. the Prices are very reasonable . They will grive the driver or your guide free food too.

I was in Sri Lanka after a week of scuba diving in Maldives with some friends. We were driving around and decided to stop at an alleged Tourist Board Registered Spice Garden so we stopped at New Paradise Spice Garden. It all looks "officially certified." The tour given to us seemed interesting and as always, made us wonder why western... More

Great even in the rain! The massage was great Fantastic information and the hair remover they put on my husband's leg has kept the hair off for 6 weeks! Wish I had it on mine - ha ha

This was an unexpected detour on my way to Kandy which my taxi driver recommended. It is small and free. My guide was incredibly knowledgeable and I found his explanations of all the herbs, spices and their uses very interesting. The demonstrations, tastings and massage were free with a suggested tip if you felt the massage worth it - it... More

Do not go here, the "tour" itself is free but you get bullied and pressured into buying over priced spices. TOURIST TRAP!

As with all the spice gardens it's just there to take money off the tourists. There's nothing in the shop you can't buy cheaper in Food City in Sri Lankan towns (or in some cases, Boots in Birmingham for that matter). The tour guide claimed to be a doctor but when partner pointed out that he must be on a... More

The garden is completely free. hah. Except when you feel badgered into buying stuff because you got a "free" tour and a "free" massage. I would have preferred to pay an entrance fee and not feel like I was being manipulated into purchasing outrageously priced natural remedies.
