This is the closest you'll get to a beach in Hungary. The lake is quite large, but don't expect clear azure waters. The bottom is also somewhat muddy.

If you want to relax and eat very good food this is the place to go. Convenient beaches cheap and well kept. We enjoyed renting bikes and taking ferry up the lake and then cycled back to the camping

We visited Lake Balaton in May. That was one of the best months, not so many people around and the scenery was just perfect!

Even though we traveled when season did not start yet, the place was full with vacationers. I am so glad that people find the lake enjoyable even when it did not warm up yet
