About
Popular tour from the top of the Trollstigen road and up to Bispevatnet lake. The tour starts at 747 meters above sea level and has a total elevation of 290 meters. Tour description: Park just after the Trollstigen plateau (at the bridge over the river or just after the bridge). Follow the road 30 m uphill and cross the road. The start of the trail is marked with a red T. The trail is cairned, but in the beginning, many tourists has made a lot of them, so it can be a bit confusing. From the Bispevatnet lake, it is possible to continue further into the right side of the lake, to the pass between the Bispen and Kongen mountains.

The first part of the hike is about 30-40 min and takes you to the Bispevatnet Lake. Once there you can enjoy the valley views and enjoy a nice picnic. The lake there is pristine and like many places one where we drank directly from. Cool, refreshing and completely natural from the source.

At this point many people turn and head back down but you can continue along an "off the beaten track" route along the rocky, lake's edge. This is not your average hike, and requires good pathfinding and navigation skills as well as strong hiking skills. It is possible with young children - ours were 11 and 8 years old) but they are also strong climbers and hikers. Lots of loose rocks!

Along this path for another kilometre or about an hour will bring you to another beautiful lookout and a view of the King (Kongen). And the solitude and quiet you will experience is a fulfilling and rewarding experience.

Highly recommend. Know your limits though - you can always turn around. See photos.
