The first part of the hike is about 30-40 min and takes you to the Bispevatnet Lake. Once there you can enjoy the valley views and enjoy a nice picnic. The lake there is pristine and like many places one where we drank directly from. Cool, refreshing and completely natural from the source. At this point many people turn and head back down but you can continue along an "off the beaten track" route along the rocky, lake's edge. This is not your average hike, and requires good pathfinding and navigation skills as well as strong hiking skills. It is possible with young children - ours were 11 and 8 years old) but they are also strong climbers and hikers. Lots of loose rocks! Along this path for another kilometre or about an hour will bring you to another beautiful lookout and a view of the King (Kongen). And the solitude and quiet you will experience is a fulfilling and rewarding experience. Highly recommend. Know your limits though - you can always turn around. See photos.
