Torghatten, with its distinctive hole through it, is known both nationally and internationally. Petter Dass, our famous clergyman and poet, described the mountain as “an eye that keeps watch over Nordland’s people and riches – and which never sleeps. Torghatten offers the wild and untouched, excitement and atmosphere and people appear tiny as they walk through the 160 m long, 25-75 m high and 12-27 m wide hole, like in an enormous hall.

Plenty of parking lots available, the hike to the hole takes app. 15 minutes for fit persons. There weren't too many tourists here in July, so I was able to take some good pictures and enjoy the stunning view

It is nearly one kilometre, the terrain starts out dirt but becomes stonyier as you get closer to the cave. Inside it is a little tricky. The are some stairs but to reach the opening you have to manoeuvre around large rocks. We walked in...More

The climb is moderate but not for those that may be weak at heart or have challenges with knees, ankles etc. Make sure you take a camera for great photo opps.

What an amazing mountain, reasonably easy climb to the most amazing views and if you sing like I do then prepare yourself for the most amazing acoustics!

We were stranded i Brønnøysund due to weather conditions, and took a hike to Torghatten. It was the best hike I have had in a long time, not to far and not to strenuous. We watched the most beautifull sunset and ate kvikklunch. Top noch...More
