About
Atlungstad Distillery was built in 1855, and is today the only building complex that reflects the development from village distilleries to a more widespread production. The distillery was chosen as Stange Municipalitiy’s Millennium Site, and it has been granted protection status as a cultural monument of technical interest by the Directorate for Cultural Heritage. Today the distillery is the oldest producing distillery in Norway, and is also a restaurant, meeting and conference center. The restaurant serves Norwegian traditional food with a twist of the modern and a hint of aquavit. You can experience the history and production trough guided tours of the distillery and complex. Guided tour Saturdays at 14:00
Duration: 2-3 hours

At the beautiful shore of Lake Mjøsa, nr Hamar. Very interesting old aquavit destillery. Still working in the old-fasioned way. Also, in part of the old factory, a very good restaurant, with local food.

A must in you are in the Area or travelling closeway.
Tradition and present around Aquavit, the norwegian spirit made from potato. Nice guide, nice staff, good food and aquavit tasting.

On the last day of August we were participating in a tour of this distillery. It is actually a working museum. We were quite a lot of visitors. The tour of the distillery started outside with a historic overview. The history was interesting and the guide had a fantastic way of telling it, adding humorous comments and anecdotes. We had a good time with a lot of laughter outside. Then we were split in groups for the tour. Our group got another guide to take us around. He was just as good in mixing interesting facts with humorous stories and comments - and more laughter. At the end we got a meal and some aquavit to taste, and we bought their own beer to follow the meal. Before it all was ending, we got an inspiring lecture of the history of the aquavit's itself, by a distiller who was an equally elegant speaker as the two other. It was a great visit.
