Well what a fantastic time we had. The setting is beautiful, the winery is tastefully decorated plus they have a gorgeous outdoor area which is shaded. It was 30 degrees but the room was cooled with a breeze.

Food was delicious, the tastings were well picked. Sophia and Maria know all the answers to your questions and are also very easy to speak with..they were good fun.

The wines couldn’t be further from the wine you got in the 70,s a great selection….we had wine pairings with a full lunch but they also do just nibbles and wine

Easy to find, easy to park what’s not to like !!

the Dourakis winery is a uniquely gorgeous functional winery, set in the wild mountains of Crete, but easily accessible. The wine is exquisite. We had our wedding party there and the genuine beauty paired with amazing wine made the night magical.
Even more the Marmakis band from Crete played the live music and they accompanied us to dance through the night, getting everyone on their feet under the free night air. Unforgettable service from the winery and the band.

What a find . We have been coming to the lovely island of Crete for over 25 years and we were recommended the vineyard by a fellow guest . A little distance into the foot of the White Mountains the drive was well worth it .
The full tour wasn’t available ( due to Covid restrictions ) but it didn’t detract from the experience whatsoever . The explanation of the wines , the light lunch and the ambiance was to die for .
We will make this a regular visit on future trips and I would recommend to anyone staying in this part of Western Crete .

As we finished our hike much sooner than expected, we decided to drive up to the winery and see if it was possible to do a tasting earlier than our reservation. If not, we would just buy some wine and drive back. Everybody was seated at the terrace, so we sat down and asked politely if it was possible.

The guy was so unfriendly, like he didn’t want to host us at all. I explained him that we’d totally understand if it was not possible, but he barely replied and just looked really mad. Then he said we could only do the a premium tasting right now, but ignored us after that. After waiting for 10 more minutes, we decided to leave. Pretty disappointed, i planned on bringing home a few bottles of wine. Would not spend any money here.

Dear 915lise, we are so incredibly sorry to hear that this was your experience when visiting us - this certainly falls below the experience we aim to provide to our guests when visiting our winery. If you would like to reach out to me I will personally try and make this right. Regards Evie

Fabulous setting, friendly atmosphere, delicious lunch and great wine. We spent the afternoon having a light lunch and sampling 5 of the Dourakis wines sat underneath the vines in the sunshine. The staff and service is well considered and informative. We truly enjoyed are afternoon, we’re able to come away with some delicious wine and cannot recommend highly enough!

We booked for a cheese and wine tasting and were rather underwhelmed by the experience. While both the cheese and wine were of good quality, the staff didn't pay us much attention and gave only the briefest description of the wine before leaving us to ourselves. For the price charged (22 euros each) it was rather expensive.

Dear 146katea, we aim for all of our guests to feel welcomed and to remember nothing but a relaxing day at our winery. As such, I am truly saddened to hear that you felt this way about your experience with us. The last thing we would want is for our guests to feel that we charge more than what we are supposed to. We take pride in sharing our wines, offering some of our favorite locally made products and the quiet of our terrace; and feel as if we have priced this experience at par with our local market. I wish that you had said something to us at the time to see how we could have made your stay with us more enjoyable. Regards Evie

What a gem of a winery and a lovely experience. Great explanation of the wines on offer, adaptable tasting (I don't drink red wine but my husband does) and an incredibly friendly and knowledgeable team. Well worth the 15 euros for the premium tasting, and great to be able to purchase wine from their shop afterwards.

Would highly recommend.

We stopped here as part of a wine tour with Chania Wine Tours. Vasili, our guide, led the tasting and education session rather than the winery staff. The property is quaint and their wine pretty darn good. As part of our tasting, they also provided some local fresh small bites to pair with the wine. The only reason I am not providing a 5 star review is that at least two of the bottles which were poured for us had bugs in them from not properly being stored. Vasili quickly got us fresh bottles, but seeing that many bugs in your glass from two different bottles just sort of put a sour taste in our mouths. I would definitely recommend a visit here as part of your time in Crete!

We visited Dourakis Winery and were amazed. We were met with extremely warm and friendly staff/family who gave us a tour of the Winery followed by tasting a selection of their delicious wine. Greek wine is delicious! We had no idea. We didn't feel rushed, it was a relaxed friendly environment and would highly recommend a visit. Thank you for a great experience. 10/10

We came for wine tasting and left with new friends! It was such a wonderful experience and the wines were excellent too! Be sure to try the “orange” wine which is unique to the region. It’s made from a grape varietal that actually has orange skin, not the typical red or white we are used to. It was delicious! I’d definitely come back here and recommend it to anyone.
