- לירז דHerzliya, Israel1 contributionIn terms of variety there are not many animals, it mostly crawls a lot of dwarfs, snakes and so on. We are with children aged 3 and 5, they were very much enjoying and excited about the animals. The tour itself is around the hour, so with small children it's an excellent length, because they don't lose patience. The guide Eduardo was kind, spoke reasonable English, answered questions patiently and gave a lot of information. In terms of price, we were 4 adults, two over 60 and cost us $135, children under 5 do not pay.Thank you for your detailed review! We're happy to hear that you and your family enjoyed your visit and that the kids had such a great time interacting with the animals. It’s wonderful that the tour length was perfect for your little ones and that Eduardo provided friendly and informative guidance. - InuskaOttawa, Canada24 contributionsWe spent great time visiting the Zoo. We had amazing guide Fer, she took time explaining everything and we learned so much about animals and their life. We got to feed parrots, mexican dogs, deer and turtles. Held snake and crocodile. The zoo is so clean and well maintanant. I had a feeling walking in the jungle and seeing animals in their natural environment. The facility has a small Playground for the little Kids and a cafe with delicious icecream and much more. Such a jem in the area. Definitely recommend It! And I hope We will come back for a visit.Thank you so much for your wonderful review! 🌿🐊 We're thrilled to hear that you had such a great experience and that Fer made your visit even more special. While we were playing at the little park after the spider monkeys and their babies came, swinging from tree to tree. A fun and entertaining experience overall, if you need to kill a couple hours.Thank you for your review Kevin! We're so glad you had a fun and entertaining experience with the animals, from the crocodiles to the spider monkeys. Spoiler: Yes, the animals live in enclosures that are too small, and have stress-related behaviors.
We visited the zoo at the end of February 2025. I am generally very much against tourist activities involving animals. However, after reading on the website that this was primarily a place for rescued and well-cared-for animals, along with seeing positive reviews, we decided to go.
I feel disappointed. The place was really well maintained, with incredible greenery and jungle running through the entire park. It was clean and neat, and the guides were skilled and friendly.
However, many of the animals had small enclosures—especially the smaller crocodiles, snakes, and specifically the coatimundis (or coatis, I am not sure of the exact name). There were two animals in their enclosure, which was very small. They had developed stress behaviors, clearly visible on the inside wall of the cage, where the paint was worn off from them compulsively throwing themselves against it in a pirouette-like motion. It was truly upsetting and tragic to see. I really hope that the organization does something to improve the environment and well-being of these animals.
I did not take any pictures or videos of the coatis, which I now regret, as I would have liked to share the evidence. I have also emailed the zoo about this, as I was deeply affected by what I saw and really hope for an improvement. Because I think the zoo has the right intentions.
The cats (I think it was an ocelot) were sleeping when we passed their area, but even their enclosures seemed very small.
As I said, the zoo was clean and tidy. The visits were calm and done in small groups, guided by staff. There were also very few animals that were mentioned as having actually been rescued. But once again, I was reminded that animals should not be part of tourism. :(
I hope this review helps someone who, like me, is hesitant about visiting, and I really hope the zoo makes changes for the animals.

Dear Julia, we are very grateful that you truly care about animals, as it also gives us the opportunity to reinforce accurate information about their habitats and behaviors.
As you know, the animals we have at the zoo are either confiscated or rescued, so their anxious behaviors unfortunately stem from their previous conditions.
What we can currently see is, in fact, their rehabilitation process thanks to the work of our team of professionals. You should know that although these behaviors are not always fully rehabilitated due to the poor living conditions they had before arriving with us, what you were able to observe is an animal in recovery. Therefore, it is important to emphasize that our educational role as a zoo is also to explain the consequences of having wild animals at home.
For this reason, and knowing that all living beings can exhibit anxious behaviors during a period of adaptation to new places, in this case it would be incorrect to assume that what you observe is something bad when, on the contrary, their behavior is being corrected thanks to interaction with another member of their species and the environmental enrichment activities designed by our professionals.
As for the felines, your guide should have explained that behind what you see, ocelots have an open and spacious area where they can run, play, and climb during their most active periods, since they are nocturnal, which is why you see them resting or wandering around during the day.
On the other hand, for your peace of mind, baby crocodiles need small spaces to feel safe, since in their natural habitat they tend to gather together to protect themselves from predators, which is why their habitat is this large.
You can rest assured regarding the well-being of our animals and rest assured that we are constantly improving our approach to providing them with the best possible professional care as we face the new challenges posed by the current situation in our natural and social environment.
We would like to remind you that your visits are what allows us to continue working for the people and animals of our community, so it is very important to us that our visitors always have the right information. Thank you for expressing your concern. Best regards.

I did enjoy this quite a lot but it’s overpriced for a one hour walk through (just over 1400 pesos for two adults). It felt like the guide was rushing through (even when we saw the spider monkeys he didn’t want to stop so we could watch them). I also think there is an opportunity to provide more information on the plants, trees, birds, insects, etc as you are walking through the forest.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We’re glad to hear you enjoyed your visit, though we’re sorry it felt rushed. We’ll make sure to share your comments with our team to improve the experience, including providing more detailed information about the flora and fauna during the tour.
It’s important to note that a portion of your entrance fee directly supports the care, rescue, and rehabilitation of many local species. Your visit helps us continue our vital conservation efforts to protect the incredible wildlife of the region. Thank you for contributing to this mission, and we hope to welcome you again in the future!

The photos are deceptive. The fawns are in cages and you can only feed them through the net. The small crocodile 🐊 can only be petted in the hands of staff. You can only take photos with parrots without touching them. Our guide was a girl, who introduced herself as a biologist, but it was clear that she had little experience in handling animals (a small crocodile is a snake). So, the zoo is not iterative, it is very dirty and with limited areas for the animals.
Also, poor customer support. We sent an email to book the ticket and the transfer from the hotel to the zoo, they NEVER responded! Not recommended

The zoo houses various reptiles and wild cats and dogs. We we very disappointed that we were unable to hold the crocs though as this was one thing that we wanted to visit for. The money paid for the food was not distributed accordingly and we feel we didn’t get our moneys worth from only feeding 2-3 peanuts to the birds

Our guide, Hector, was excellent. He was patient and well versed on the indigenous wildlife. Nice small zoo built into the natural surroundings. The Macaws and parrots were the highlight of our visit. Unfortunately we did not get to experience the wild spider monkeys. The price of $39 US at the gate was 3-4 times the price of our local zoo, which is mid-sized for the US. But Croco Cun may not receive much other funding to operate. All in all we had a very good experience and I recommend going there if you stay in Puerto Morelos.

Croco cun was located at the entrance of our hotel. On the surface it didn’t look anything special or very big.
We did a lot of exertions and we’re struggling to find anything else do local to us.
After reading reviews on trip advisor and the the reasonable ticket price, we thought it would be a no brainer to book.
Well!!! It was definitely money well spent!
This wasn’t the biggest and most popular zoo I’ve ever visited but there was something about it that I enjoyed more than any other.
My favourite zoo to date!!!
The setting was absolutely beautiful, its like you’re walking through the jungle. You feel closer to the wild life more than other zoos.
We would like to thank our super friendly, knowledgeable and helpful tour guide Hector! Thank you for making this my favourite day in mexico, not rushing or clock watching the tour.
We ate at the cafe on site and the Chicken baguette was delicious and packed with chicken. The side of jalapeños just hit differently!! The prices were more than acceptable and not like other zoos with extortionate prices.

I visited Croco Cun zoo early in the morning, so there weren't many visitors yet (which was great). The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. Most speak excellent English, so it's easy to understand the tour.
The selection of animals is great and diverse, especially because you can touch many of them (including baby crocodiles, deers, snakes, and hairless dogs).
The tour lasts around 1 hour, and you have to go in with a guide (you cannot walk around on your own for safety reasons). My guide made a fantastic job at entertaining the visitors and doing some environmental awareness. The zoo is a good example of Mexico's efforts towards conservation and planetary health.
I recommend visiting this zoo whether you are alone or with children. It's a perfect activity for the whole family.

Wonderful place to visit with kids of any age (mine are 3 and under)! Had a 1 hr tour of the zoo and we’re able to pet crocodiles, feed monkeys/parrots/turtles/deer/raccoons, and even hold a (very friendly) snake. Very professional operation with a great mission, well-maintained, and reasonably priced. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Also, another tip - the gift shop here has the best prices around on Mexican ceramic. Highly recommend for families of all ages!

Very small zoo (not a sanctuary or a reserve!) along a 4 lane full of super noisy trucks. Animals cramped in very small enclosures. Some of which, like the coati, would be much better outdoors. 1 hour guided tour (English or Spanish) for more than €30 per person. I do not recommend at all…

Crococun is a quaint and delightful little mostly reptile zoo just south of Cancun. Our family of young adults in their twenties and a teenager just loved it. Unlike other zoos, you navigate the entire zoo in a small group with a tour guide. You are educated about the animals and many of them you are able to interact with and even feed. It takes an hour to ninety minutes to go through. It’s not a fancy place and admission is a touch high. Because so many of the animals are rescues we didn’t mind helping to support their cause.
Among the animals are parrots, caiman, snakes, turtles, Mexican hairless dogs, and wild monkeys. The gift shop is very nice and reasonably priced. The concession stand had nice cool snacks and beverages. Your taxi cab driver usually waits for you or they can call another for you. We wholeheartedly recommend this lovely little zoo nestled in a small stretch of jungle right on the highway.
