- travelbug_maxMontreal, Canada7 contributionsFun visit at an exotic petting zoo!I visited Croco Cun zoo early in the morning, so there weren't many visitors yet (which was great). The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. Most speak excellent English, so it's easy to understand the tour. The selection of animals is great and diverse, especially because you can touch many of them (including baby crocodiles, deers, snakes, and hairless dogs). The tour lasts around 1 hour, and you have to go in with a guide (you cannot walk around on your own for safety reasons). My guide made a fantastic job at entertaining the visitors and doing some environmental awareness. The zoo is a good example of Mexico's efforts towards conservation and planetary health. I recommend visiting this zoo whether you are alone or with children. It's a perfect activity for the whole family.Traveled with friendsWritten January 12, 2023
- Jared RProvidence, Rhode Island30 contributionsGreat family trip!Wonderful place to visit with kids of any age (mine are 3 and under)! Had a 1 hr tour of the zoo and we’re able to pet crocodiles, feed monkeys/parrots/turtles/deer/raccoons, and even hold a (very friendly) snake. Very professional operation with a great mission, well-maintained, and reasonably priced. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Also, another tip - the gift shop here has the best prices around on Mexican ceramic. Highly recommend for families of all ages!Traveled with familyWritten December 9, 2022
- Lisa BChicago, Illinois473 contributionsVery fun interactive little zoo!Crococun is a quaint and delightful little mostly reptile zoo just south of Cancun. Our family of young adults in their twenties and a teenager just loved it. Unlike other zoos, you navigate the entire zoo in a small group with a tour guide. You are educated about the animals and many of them you are able to interact with and even feed. It takes an hour to ninety minutes to go through. It’s not a fancy place and admission is a touch high. Because so many of the animals are rescues we didn’t mind helping to support their cause. Among the animals are parrots, caiman, snakes, turtles, Mexican hairless dogs, and wild monkeys. The gift shop is very nice and reasonably priced. The concession stand had nice cool snacks and beverages. Your taxi cab driver usually waits for you or they can call another for you. We wholeheartedly recommend this lovely little zoo nestled in a small stretch of jungle right on the highway.Written June 17, 2021

One of the highlights of our trip. David was a supurb guide with good English and an obvious pasison. He built a great raport with our children 6 and 9 and the tour was just the right pace with all questions answered from very inquisitive children. Also great to see such conservation efforts in practice. Thank you.

My husband, son and I met a friend and her daughter here while visiting Cancun. Both of our little ones are 3. Sandra was our tour guide, she was friendly, knowledgeable and spoke English extremely well. We had a lot of fun seeing the animals and then more fun in the little playground area at the zoo when the tour ended.

My family visited Crococun this past week while visiting Dreams Riviera Cancun. We had a very mixed experience. I want to give it a 5 star rating but I just can't.
My almost 3 year old announced on the plane that he was going to Mexico to see "Alligators, monkeys, turtles and dragons!" Crococun seemed like the perfect place for him. Our guide Diana was great, and showed him how to feed the birds, coatis, turtles, and monkeys. He saw every animal he had wanted to see.
Unfortunately, we had a negative experience with one of their dogs. Our guide gave my son some food to feed the dog. My son is pretty calm and gentle. He held out his hand with food, and the dog lunged and bit my sons neck.
The bite was minor. The dogs teeth only scratched my sons neck, thankfully. My son and I were both very upset. He cried for a few minutes and calmed down. The zoo vet came and looked at the wound and cleaned it. She showed me the rabies shots record too.
I would have appreciated if a manager had come to check on him, apologize, or if they had done something to make up for it. Even offering an ice pop would have put a smile on his face.
I'm grateful that my son is okay, but this was still traumatic for us both. He has spent the last few days occasionally bursting into tears and telling me he's scared of "the doggy saying woof woof".
He also tells me that he wants to go back to the zoo and see the monkeys and crocodiles and turtles again, which is why giving this place a negative rating is so difficult.

We went to the Croco Cun zoo just last week (early Jan 2023) and it was fantastic. The staff are all super friendly and helpful. We had a large group (4 adults and 6 kids, ages 2-8) and it was the perfect morning activity. The tour is great for young kids as you see a bunch of animals in quick succession so they don't get bored. Additionally, the animals are close together so there isn't a lot of walking. There are lots of crocodiles, snakes, birds, turtles and even some Mexican hairless dogs. The wild monkeys also provide a lot of entertainment. Our kids got to hold a snake, feed some birds and even pet a young crocodile. This is a great place!

Sandra was our guide for the tour of the zoo! She was so informative about the species and answered a million questions from a very excited child. She was clearly passionate about her job and the conservation work that the zoo does.
We had an amazing time touching a crocodile, holding and feeding the birds, feeding the Mexican hairless dogs, feeding the turtles and holding Penelope the boa constrictor.
Seeing the apidermonkey holding its baby was amazing. Memories to treasure.

My partner and I biked to crocun zoofrom Puerto Morales. It was a mere 30 minutes. The zoo is small and lovely and gives you a really close look at all kinds of snakes, turtles, crocs, deer, coati, parrots and hairless dogs.there are 17 spider monkeys on site who like to come down for a treat or closer look at the visitors. Two had infants .the tour was small informal and friendly. Only suggestion would be toencourage volunteers and provide a list of animal conservation groups in Yucatán to contribute to to poor text Mexican wildlife.

Croco Cun is just a hit with the kids every time we come. It is a good experience with the kids and there is always a great sense of calm and quiet.
This time, during COVID-19, it would have been nice that a group of 8 people had the guide exclusively and other people went in their separate groups. Seemed quite easy and this time cost the 5th star.

David was a fantastic guide! All of the animals were amazing and we learned so much about them. We were also lucky enough to see some of the wild spider monkeys that visit the zoo sometimes.
I highly recommend the trip if you have a couple hours to spare!

We thought that this might be some type of hokey tourist trap, but were surprised that it was not! It is extremely well run, very clean inside, and very professional. We waited about 10 minutes for enough people to gather to make up a group, and then had a guide walk us through the area. They are bilingual, so language is not a barrier. Inside we found all the crocodiles we could want, plus assorted reptiles, and also the pleasure of having monkeys right above our heads.
There was a bonus too, since they have a great coffee shop with food there that opens as early as 7:30.

Andrea was so sweet and patient with my 5 yr old daughter. This was a great experience many crocodiles, hands, a very unique and nice place to visit and was not expensive at all like other zoos in the area. The tour lasted over an hour. We seen spider monkeys and a baby spider money only a week old. The xoloezquincles were playing with other spider monkeys. It was a great experience you have to go and take your family.

We stayed at the Cancun Hotel zone and took the local bus. Had to change once. The cost was minimal. No issues travelling to the Zoo.
On the return we stopped a bus outside Croc Zoo too get back to Cancun. We took the bus to the "end station" but wasn't aware who to find the local bus to the Hotel Zone. Took a Taxi the last 10 minutes of travel...
