The Museum of Fine Arts is situated in a picturesque location, overlooking the waters of the Plotinka (part of the Iset River). Founded in 1936, it offers one of the most significant art museums in the Urals.
The star exhibit of the Museum of Fine Arts is its elaborate Kasli Iron Pavilion, which is located in the central foyer of the museum. All together the pavilion is composed of more than 1500 unique iron cast details and sculptures, it weighs about 20 tons. The pavilion won prizes in the 1900 Paris Expo, and in 1978 the unique pavilion was registered by UNESCO as the world's only architectural structure.
The museum has a good collection of icons, paintings and cast iron art. This tiny museum boasts an interesting collection of 18th and 19th century art by such well known artists as Avisovsky, Repin, Vasnetsov, Shishkin, Kramskoy, Leviten, Neserov among others.
Overall, it is a nice place to spend a couple of hours, especially on a rainy afternoon.
