Chasewater is ideal for families looking for somewhere to walk, ride bikes, picnic and play.
There is a cafe and toilets, alongside a children’s park and crazy golf at the busy end. This attracts many families and a parking fee is expected here.

The highlight is obviously the lake with sailing boats, waterskiing and windsurfing and you could be forgiven for thinking you’re in the lakes or near the sea when you find a quiet spot with a beach and watch the small waves rolling in.

Only downside is how busy it gets and it’s always windy, so wrap up warm!

The east side meets the canal if you fancy furthering your walk.

I prefer to walk or cycle the circuit (5km) and explore the quiet north end watching the wildlife. There are a stunning array of swans, geese, ducks, moorhens, coots, heron, swift and buzzards. They have cleared several paths through tall gorse and it feels like a labyrinth which the kids and dog enjoy! There’s pretty woodlands and great views of the lake up here. I must mention the lovely old fashioned steam railway on the north side offering a ride between two station cafes. There is also a train museum, and gift shops. A little bit of ‘hog warts express’ thrown in to the day out!

We went here to ride on the railway. Great place, great day out. BUT….the car park ticket machines have had the card payments disabled and there is no phone or app option, and only coins are accepted. After a 2 hour journey we did not need to waste half an hour trying to buy a drink on site to get change for the machine. But we managed it in the end, had a nice lunch at the railway’s cafe, a nice train ride and a nice walk by the lake.

The postcode to reach the car park is WS8 7NL. There is a £3 parking charge and the machine only takes cash. There is a large carpark with some spaces overlooking the water.
We enjoyed a long walk with pleasant views. The only downside was noise from the motorway on the one side of the lake.

We live near Chasewater and walk our dogs there 3 to 4 times a week. My wife and I have seen the park go through many changes over the past several years. One of the best, in my opinion, has been the addition of The Shed. Not only does it serve the finest coffee anywhere around but the owners are genuinely nice people who run a flawless business. Don't be put off if there's a queue when you're passing by. They're fast, efficient, always happy to see you and give your dog a treat. The only complaint we have is it's seasonal and closed during the week through the winter. We look forward to making it our daily stop again when the weather improves.

We visited on a Thursday afternoon after driving down to pick up something we'd bought online.

Café closed at 3 so we just missed it. Pleasant short walk up one side of the reservoir. Plenty of folks around. Some picnic tables and places to sit near the car park and costs £1 to park for 2 hours.

We're a gay male couple and held hands while walking round. People stopped conversations and gave side glances, which we are used to in less urban areas, when we passed but nothing unpleasant. Think they don't get many visible LGBT+ folk round here!

Recommended for a quiet walk though the birds make plenty of noise!

We went to Chasewater today to go for a walk. We were very surprised to find the toilets locked. The cafe was great and served really good coffee, but we left very disappointed with the general provision of facilities. We were told by some people in the carpark that the toilets were often locked and unavailable. Not sure how to check before travelling .

Such a beautiful place. Starting at pool road we took a leisurely stroll around the lake stopping roughly half way at chasewater railway cafe for a well earned cup of tea. It is an easy walk , no challenging hills etc almost flat throughout so easy for less able people to enjoy.

Walked here on a bright, windy winter's day. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Took us about 1 hour 40 mins to do the green route (medium pace) including a short visit to the railway station. There are four cafes. One by the car park, South Shore café, that is very friendly and very basic with a limited food menu (no cooking but microwaved sandwiches etc are available). The Sidings Tea Room at the Brownhills West station has a traditional menu and is only a few minutes from the car park. Chasewater Heath Station Café advertises that it is open 7 days a week but it was closed when we passed at 1530 on a Saturday afternoon. Our walk did not take us past the Lakeside cafe. Definitely worth a return visit.

Visited recenty (but never again). Manageress? outside on her phone on our arrival. Went in and up to counter to order. Cook? in the kitchen looked at me and disappeared. No acknowledgement of me waiting to order. After a couple of minutes lady from outside came in (with phone still stuck to ear) took order from a gent I'd let go in front of me and then took my order (still with phone attached) I ordered, 2 hot chocolate and 2 well done bacon sandwiches. She proceeded to put a tea spoon of drinking chocolate into each of two mugs followed by some cold milk. Mixed that up then put some hot water from the boiler into the mugs and stirred them. I requested that as she had put cold milk into "hot chocolate" would she please put them into the microwave until nice and hot. She informed me that "they don't do that" I then asked her again to which she replied "just this time". After a few seconds she served me the drinks which were hot. There is a need for some basic food hygiene training in this establishment however. The only PPE visible were the aprons the three staff were wearing. Actually these were over cardigans etc which is not permitted under food hygiene regulations. The lad serving tables was seen to bring cutlery out form the kitchen and then using his fingers on the blades and prongs of knives and forks place them in the cutlery holders. The cook was observed, picking her teeth with her nails, using her cardigan as an oven cloth and allowing a delivery person to place an insulated bag onto the work surface where she had previously prepared food. Avoid, void, avoid.

After taking the kids here we were shocked by the parking. Most parking machines are out of order. The ones that do work only accept cash in change. Won't accept notes or cards. In this day and age this is unacceptable I think. No one has change anymore with covid and always paying card places. Had to leave. These parking charges are fairly new to chasewater and I'd of thought it would be more user friendly. Obviously not!
